The games towards the end of the season have been an improvement on the games early in his reign. He seems to have quickly matured and understood how to keep the team motivated into the second half and see games through when leading.

At the start of Monk's time here we hammered Cardiff, got an excellent draw at Stoke, put in an excellent performance away at Liverpool, outplayed Napoli at the Liberty and gave a very good account of ourselves in Italy. Sure, there were a few bumps along the way, most notably the inept second half displays against Palace and West Brom but these were followed by the draw at Arsenal and the trouncing of Norwich and then Villa. The improvement in effort and performance was almost immediate. You and others just didn't want to see it. And still don't. |  |
