First 20 minutes were terrible. Dielna was run ragged by Sean Scannell, who was quite rightly voted MOTM after an outstanding display. First goal in particular was very soft. They scored with what felt like 3 of their first 4 attacks, only a decent Lewis save in between second and third goal stopped it being 4 from 4.

Once Dielna was taken off and Rentmeister came on, with a bit of a reshuffle in defence, we looked a lot more solid but to all intents and purposes the game was over. Only in very occasional flashes did we look like we had any quality with which to trouble them. What is commendable is the fight we showed to pick up those two late goals and remarkably it felt like we were going in for half time in better spirits.

Second half - Fonz had a chance to make it 3-3 but was inches from making a connection. Miller was fortunate to be flagged offside for a chance he effectively cleared away from their goal for them. It was always likely that if they got a 4th it was probably done and dusted. We couldn't quite manage a fully effective clearance and Butterfield was in the right place to stroke a shot home.

That's about it really. It seems to me there are as many problems in the stands as there are in the boardroom at this club. Fan v fan arguments, homophobic chanting etc. Thought it was telling far more people stood up for 'Stand up if you love the Pool' than stood up for 'Stand up if you hate Oyston'. A lot of folk want to go to a match and try to concentrate on what's happening on the pitch, and save their protesting for other ways at other times. Unfortunately there seems to be a growing group for whom that's unacceptable, and your measure as a Blackpool fan is the chants you're willing to join in with. Sad.

As for the team, after 12 games I've seen little to suggest we're in for anything other than a right old scrap this year. We can compete but there's not enough quality there. The losing mentality we've had since around October 2012 continues to haunt the club, and at the moment there seems little sign of it going away.

SSS sums it up pretty well. The brief lift we got after the Cardiff game soon disappeared in the first 20 minutes and it looked like we were in for a hiding like we got at Derby last year when the rot set in. The two goals gave us some hope and if early chances in the second half had been converted the whole result could have been different. I have said previously that the main fault lies with the midfield where there is no creativity so the forwards are relying on scraps. There is so little pace in our team that even the occasional breakaway gets thwarted just over the halfway line either by losing the ball, misplacing a pass or turning and going backwards. Huddersfield showed how to attack with pace and were 3 up before we had broken sweat. Lewis made several last ditch saves to keep us in the game for an hour but poor defending eventually did it for us in the end.
The manager/chairman relationship is delicate to say the least and is destined for a divorce in the not too distant future, irrespective of where the fault lies for the sake of the club it has to be fairly soon.

What worries me about reading your reports is how we are going to cope as the season wears on. Such a threadbare squad is going to collapse with injuries and tiredness as the superior teams wear us down

For me Scannell showed what we were lacking - pace going forward and the ability to beat a man. We lack solidity and penetration in midfield and anyone who can hold the ball up up front: compare Miller and Fuller. The defence wasn't too hot either. Agree with the criticism of the small minded minority who think it is acceptable to take out their frustrations - all our frustrations - on fellow supporters. Not a day to be proud of in any department methinks - with perhaps the exception of the pro Blackpool chanting which united everyone.
