Michael Sheen delivered an amazing piece of oratory yesterday on the importance of the NHS. He is one of the most powerful speakers I've ever seen, I barely noticed I was stood in the mud in the driving sleet.
If man evolved from monkeys why do we still have monkeys?

Depend who you mean by Labour though.
Red Ed is certainly more old Labour. The bile, the jealousy seeps out every now and then, he just can't help it. He knows that won't get him the power he desparately craves.
No Milliband and his party is as Tory as Cameron and his party.
They are all the same, like two peas in a pod.

Nah, Red Ed is Unite's bitch at the end of the day.
He may put a veneer on to try to look "electable" but he's still a union boy. Only have to look at some of the Labour selections to see the Unite ties. They are just trying to be cuter about it and less obvious.
He'd be an even worse Hollande, if that's possible.

What a rotter Ed Millaband is! Fancy him having the audacity to be linked to a democratic organisation made up of millions of ordinary people. He should be more like that nice Mr Cameron and be in the pocket of wealthy individuals instead.

Well you wont get more right wing than the unions, they don't care for the sick, the elderly, the unemployed or people on benefits etc etc, they are elitist they only care for themselves they want to screw the system to get what they can even at the expense of the needy, they make great bed fellows for the Tories both blue and red Tories, they are a despicable group and their forefathers just like the founding fathers of the old Labour party will be turning in their graves at what is happening for sure.

Democratic organisation? Really? That why the unions had been run as opt out rather than opt in to artificially inflate numbers?
Nice to see that unions were able to dictate the election of Labour leader; a man who had trailed every single round until Balls' elimination meant the union votes moved to Milliband the lesser.
The unions have done some great things for the working people of this country - and thats a fact. Unchecked market economies end up like the bankers led crash. Stand up for yourselves.
Beware of the Risen People

Democracy in action.
Don't tell me union members are also mindless masses, along with Labour voters and the 300 people who stood in the sleet at Bedwellty Park on Sunday afternoon?
Oh to be an enlightened Tory just like you.

Bluey is your archetypal Tory intellectual snob. All Labour voters are mindless sheep, all Tory voters are making an informed political choice. It's a bankrupt position but exists widely among Tory supporters and says more about them and their view if those with different opinions than it does about anyone else. Narrow minded and ignorant.

Unfortunately Kilkenny nobody is standing up for the weak, lots of low paid aren't in a union, their job isn't unionised in many cases, the middle class wannabes like the teachers unions for instance, want to screw the public pot for more and more money, yet when it has been put to teachers trade union leaders that there is only so much the country can afford and that there are more low paid and deserving workers in other sectors of society that aren't getting as good a deal the trade unions attitude is tough, they need to fight their own corner, they need to organise themselves into unions and fight their own corner.
That is elitism right there, modern trade union leaders in lots of cases are as right wing as people in the Conservative party and of course the Labour party, the bad joke of course is that trade union members are giving subs in many cases that support a neoliberal Tory party in the form of the Labour party and the Labour party supports minimal government interference and free market forces .

Au contraire.
There are as many blinkered Tory voters, mostly in the SE of England as there are blinkered Labour voters elsewhere. Hardly narrow minded and ignorant - after all, let's see what the next WAG elections bring.
Michael Sheen did an interesting documentary that was recently on the box called the 'Valleys Rebellion', one commentator speculated that is where he got the fire in his belly from for his NHS speech.
Nice little guest appearance from the lovely Leanne on the documentary helped make things easy on the eye , but I thought the programme was quite moving particularly at the end, reading out the names that lost their lives, but there again us old valley boys are all softies really.

Here you go Bluey, seeing as you're willing to criticise Michael Sheen as a Labour Luvvie without actually listening to his speech the Western Mail have broken it down into idiot sized sound-bites for you.

The solution is to raise taxes.
[Post edited 4 Mar 2015 15:52]
And the evidence raising taxes will increase tax collected is where?
Throwing money at the NHS will not resolve the issues; it won't suddenly educate those front line staff not up to the job. Nor will it magically alleviate the strain on A&E by Mr/Mrs/Ms Idiot deciding an ingrowing toenail is an emergency.

You have to realise you're going in the wrong direction before you turn around.
Lighten up bluey. God help you if Ed Miliband is the next PM as I fear your sanity may not last!
Providing solutions means the problem is usually understood.
Hence Brand type "politics" involves "Errm, err, it's the bankers innit". Smoke and mirrors.
If Millibland gets to be PM it'll be a farce. He's not even the best Labour leader in his own family. Bacon sandwiches, standing on a box to look taller, it's like Labour are led by Mr Bean. Then again, he's as inadvertently funny as Rowan Atkinson's creation.
I'm more concerned tbh about the WAG. Sadly all that will ever be is a Labour/Plaid talking shop. God help us all if they get more powers.

Its not just the NHS, its all of society that needs investment, taxes are too low in this country, tax revenue needs to be raised particularly off people that are rich and the wealth redistributed through health, education, benefits, public works etc.

The big success story is the Scandinavians, top of the league in virtually all league tables and they tax their citizens more than we do, they have a more socialist system and they are top the league, economically, standard of living, etc etc.

Aren't suicide rates higher in Scandinavia? Granted the weather conditions don't help.
Money isn't a guarantee everything will be rosy though. What would help the NHS more - money to treat people with conditions caused by obesity in hospital/A&E, improved GP services to faciliatate aiding people stop being obese or people taking the personal responsibility to eat healthily, exercise and generally stop making themselves ill?
You can throw money at the hospital end, to treat the ailments. If people didn't stuff their faces, for the most part, then a lot of that treatment would never be needed.
My eldest is in primary school at the moment. He's 8 - the work he's been set has been absolutely pathetic. Compared to his cousins in England, the curriculum being followed in Wales is almost sub-standard. Try the bare minimum.
That's down to some teachers being content to be childminders rather than inspirations. It's down to a culture of failure propagated by WAG. Why aim high when you can accept mediocrity? That's partly the reason Labour will always implode. Given class based politics is their raison d'etre with a facade to try to make them appear electable, it doesn't suit them for the wonderful idealised utopia to arise.
