A bit more subtle but REM's 'The one I love' is incredibly bitter though oft missed- 'a simple prop to occupy my time'
Saw a documentary about REM recently where they said they'd always have a laugh playing that song in concert, watching couples hugging each other and dancing to it like it was a romantic love song.

Shows how a lot of people just don't listen to lyrics...... always makes me chuckle when someone chooses "Every breath you take" by the Police as a first dance at a wedding.
