Animal used to get a few challenges in........
Hence the nick name...

I always remember Lee Mcevily dropping that defender with that shoulder charge in the front of the Sandy before burying it into the far corner..

Yes brilliant memories, Alan Johnson seemed quite a unit and Mark Monnington didn't stand much messing around either

Hughie Riley "The Baby Faced Assassin ". When I was watching the 'Dale had several who could look after themselves but I can't think of any really nasty bastards.

Ahem! Ming Colin Blant was a gentleman.

This is not the time for bickering.

Good shout . . . I had forgotten about Colin, the ball and often the striker in possession of it usually landed in Row Z.

I always get him mixed up with Colin Waldron. Both former Burnley lads.

Yeah Blant was one that went out to " get his retaliation in first ".

Formed quite a good partnership with Arthur Marsh until all the experienced senior pros were booted out along with Dick Connor.

I always thought Flitcroft fulfilled that role to some extent - may be rose-tinted glasses at work, but I feel like there were a couple of occasions where players would go after Paddy and Kevin Townson with a few robust challenges to try and keep them quiet, and you knew 5 minutes later that the same player would be on the receiving end of a similarly agricultural effort from Flicker.
