This article although mainly focusing on New Zealand can be applied to Britain this thread Is not an attempt to resurrect the Covid debate although that is ongoing and important however this thread reaches far deeper than the virus. The article is worth a detailed read and re-read and worthy of debate for those who can think beyond the now. There is so much to absorb that I wonder if it will be beyond the casual reader to understand the implications. Lucinda Adhern is an out and out Marxist groomed and fast tracked for her role by her mentor another Marxist the former prime minister Helen Clark.
Not sure on the relevance of your last point. NZ is a democracy, so whatever her beliefs, she got voted in so gets her 4 years ( or 5?). Same with Trump. I don't like him and think he's a liar, but he gets his 4 years because he got voted in

Well the author of the article is hardly likely to support a government that is left of centre seeing that her political viewpoint is on the right of the political spectrum, and her organisation is of the same .
Be the equivalent Margaret Thatcher supporting a Jeremy Corbyn government.

She set alarm bells off for me after the gun grab.
Yeah , let’s have loads of guns left in the hands of people to make it easier to murder mass numbers of people. How wrong to try to stop mass killings. Let’s all be like USA, and allow the mass murder of people with guns by people with mental health problems.

New Zealand had one mass shooting so all of the decent guys had their guns taken off them.

As well as some who are not decent, probably. Unless you are in a very dangerous society like the USA, why would you want a gun, apart from using at a gun range ?

Did they take away the guns that hunters need for their jobs? Home defence, is that really a big issue in New Zealand, it’s not exactly like the barbaric USA.

Have you been to the USA?

No, but don’t need to go to know how much of a lawless society it is compared to most countries, especially the likes of New Zealand.
It isn’t lawless (even compared with New Zealand) and the people there were lovely. Seems a bit small minded to write off an entire nation as barbaric. I seen things over there that made me appreciate my own country more that can’t be denied but I think your picture of it is way off.
Surely somewhere like Mexico or Honduras (where guns are illegal) would be the prime places to mention when in relation to murders by guns. The other big ingredient in the US figures is that the majority of killings are perpetrated by people that own illegal guns.
Pointing to America as an argument for gun control isn’t really a good argument. The gun culture in America is nuts (conventions, glorification of guns, Wild West mentality in the modern age) that’s true but look at other countries where Gun ownership is high (Czech Republic) but guns are just seen as a tool and it’s a completely different situation.
Rushing through legislation based on one incident ( the New Zealand mosque shooting) seems like a knee jerk thing to do and punishes decent people for nothing.

Yes I was wrong to call USA barbaric, though I still maintain its gun laws are terrible. It’s a sad situation that makes it easier to own a gun , even without mental health checks, than to have sex. However the majority of the people are decent like in most countries.

The relevance Mark is that Jacinda Ardern is a Marxist- international socialist-Fabian same thing wearing a different hat. She was groomed from an early age by Helen Clarke who was also a Marxist, In this video she is at an international socialist conference rallying the proletariat, if it sounds like a duck and swims with ducks its probably a duck. With regards to you suggesting that NZ is a democracy not for the last seven weeks it isn't not since Adhern suspended parliament giving herself totalitarian undemocratic power. Imagine if Boris attempted that again this time indefinitely. I suggest you read the article again where it highlights her undemocratic actions,
This is not the time for bickering.

One guy was on Twitter the other day pointing out that if Kim dies North Korea will have a female leader before the USA without any sense of irony.

So what if she was or even still is a Marxist. In effect, almost all countries during this pandemic, including the UK are being run by the PM or equivalent without any real parliamentary control. New Zealand is a Parliamentary Democracy, with a Government Executive like this country. Even if she was a Marxist, which in my opinion would be great, she wouldn’t get her policies through without support from her cabinet and then parliamentary colleagues. Her party won the election on a manifesto, pity it wasn’t a Marxist one, nether lesser party won and she became PM. Many people are Marxist early in their lives including politicians, but many realise they unfortunately won’t get elected with these policies , so water them down, usually becoming Social Democratic. Without knowing too much about her policies, she obviously is popular in NZ, offering a new way. I suggest you get used to it, as NZ is a younger country in demographic terms, and if anything, it may even move more left wards, or maybe you would be better off in the UK or USA, which are far more socially conservative and likely to stay that way.
Is she a Marxist, I doubt it, did she used to be, well she claimed to be, but NZ is not anywhere near becoming a Marxist State, one of which this world has not seen yet, that being where there is a democracy with a Marxist planned economy.

Most of the guns that end up in Mexico are purchased in the U.S.A.

She is a democrat, North Korea is a despotic Stalinist regime., so I doubt it.

Marxism needs to be put in the dustbin. It’s been tried everywhere and has resulted in stacks of corpses, famines and less choice for the people who have endured it. And no matter where you point it’s supporters say “that wasn’t true Marxism” as though if they had the reigns there would be a better outcome.

The type of socialism espoused in The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist doesn't sound too bad

Did you make it to the end of that long winded boring affair?
Didn't find it particularly boring or long winded. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a fairer and more equitable society. Never got this notion that greed must be revered yet envy is a terrible scourge. Not religious but aren't both listed as sins.
