Nothing to do with Brexit and you know it . The workers on the Ireland to UK routes were also sacked.

You do of course know that Irish Ferries started a service between Dover and Calais in 2021 which is staffed by foriegn, non EU workers. They are paid half the wages that P & O workers used to get . Guess you think it is OK for an Irish EU company to do this

Setting fire to red tape and bureaucracy wasn’t it? Nah, nothing to do with Brexit at all. You must be one of the few people left in the country that can’t accept that you’ve been bummed.

You are correct again . It is because all P&O ferries no longer have safety certificates and cannot sail. Glad you keep up with the news.

More figures released today
UK exports to the EU increased by £3 billion in February an increase of 25.4% over February
EU exports to the UK fell by £0.7 billion in February a decrease of 0.3%

GDP in the UK rose 0.1% in February with low car production still a drag on the UK economy due to the continued world shortage in computer chips.

UK GDP is 1.5% above pre pandemic and pre Brexit levels.

More good news expected later this week with even more people in work when the employment figures are released.

How much money ordinary people have got in their pockets is what counts you clown. How many times have I told you to leave the sums to people who understand them?

EU inflation increased to 7.8% in March. Wonder what caused that. Brexit or global shortages?

Our CPI for March was 7%, so we’re not a million miles off them, the EU average is 7.8% but some countries like France are lower 5.1% while some are higher - Lithuania 15.6%.

What concerns me is we still aren’t up to speed with our preparation for Brexit. There are rumours the government are going to delay the introduction of full checks for incoming goods at our ports for a 4th time come July because we aren’t ready to implement the checks etc, meanwhile our exporters are having to complete all the paperwork, checks etc to export to the EU and have been for ages. This is putting British businesses at a competitive disadvantage and just isn’t good enough.

BTW, PTSD is no laughing matter. If you’d ever come across anyone that suffers with it you wouldn’t be trying to be funny.

Why don't people make sure they have a valid passport for the country they are visiting. Hardly rocket science is it.

The info is as clear as mud. Different rules for different countries yet no one is sure which ones. We are a 3rd country now and people were kicking off at airports today because Irish holidaymakers were getting 'preferential treatment' over UK passport holders, you could not make it up!

Brexshite strikes again ….

JRM claimed that the delay "would save saving British businesses up to £1bn in annual costs” -has he found a Brexit opportunity or has he realised Brexit costs money? To claim the former would be mental.

So we are now in a position where british businesses who wish to export to the EU have to fill in paperwork, are subject to export checks, delays, additional costs associated with those processes etc while European businesses who want to export to us (and potentially compete against our businesses) just see their good waved through the checks and customs.

It just goes to show how poor we’ve been at getting our house in order and ready for Brexit.

Are you sure? Doesn't the paperwork go both ways?

Just shows how pointless the EU beauracratic paperwork is. Goods seem to flow seamlessly into the UK from the EU. It could work just as easily the offer way except the EU wants to punish the UK.

One bit of good news was that customs duties raised by 392% last year mainly because imports from EU now have to pay duty on some goods . Works in our favour as we import more from the EU than we export.

It does, but we have decided we aren’t going to do the checks on imports that the EU are subjecting our exporters to.The EU control what goes in to their area meanwhile we aren’t able to control what comes in to the UK because we’re not ready. We’ve had 16,000 civil servants working on this and it’s a shambles.

Great news for EU and their businesses and smugglers!

The EU are applying the same rules to our goods as they do to goods from the rest of the world - the EU are seeking to “protect” their internal market hence the need gor paperwork. Goods are able to enter the UK much easier than our goods travelling the other way because we aren’t able to implement the same level of checks - we aren’t ready. It doesn’t take an Einstein to work out what’s happening.

In terms of the 392% increase in customs duties, that will eventually equate to much higher prices for consumers. I hope the government use the money sensibly to try and assist our industries compete and encourage future prosperity.
