T'2023 ODI World Cup 12:19 - Oct 4 with 11977 viewsD_Alien

Starts tomorrow, against our 'old rivals' (in ODI terms) New Zealand

There's talk about it maybe being the last 50-over tournament, or at least marking a curtailment of the number of full-day ODIs being played, so a lot riding on us to retain the trophy and of course India will be desperate to get their hands on it on home turf

As far as i'm concerned, it comes as a welcome sporting relief from Dale

Spanked...

Going to be very difficult on pitches not totally suited to our best players game.

Saying that the shot Brook played after smashing 446 was awful.

Most of our squad are used to playing in the IPL, pretty successfully, so shouldn't be at any disadvantage. NZ just did a job on us. Better now than when it might really count, but no room for further beatings

Well you certainly dont want to be challenging the cricket Gods with another loss but we did finish the round robin 5-3 last time around and went on to ‘win’ the cup.

Those aussies didnt look up to much.Having got India not much for 3 the soft underbelly of aussie bowling beyond Hazelwood, Starc and Cummins emerged.

Not a good day for Aussies with The wobblies wobbling home.

1-1 now after a convincing win yesterday. 6 wins will get us in the Semi, possibly 5 so can’t afford too many slip ups. SA, India Pakistan & NZ looking very good with 100% records so far. Can’t afford to slip up against Afghanistan on Sunday especially with SA up next ( they could still be 100% with Aussies and Netherlands up next for them)

Aussies hammered by SA

Our games against both will be good tests for where we're at. Stokes a concern (again), and bringing him back too soon could put him back for the tour of India

In the OP, it was expected the WC might be "a welcome relief" from the sporting travails of Dale...

Good use of "WC" terminology

At least the RU guys - just about - got over the line

Could be the gap between the top tier and so-called "second tier" nations is closing in both sports

As we saw yesterday, so-called lower tier teams try harder. Afghanistan did today, much more than England.

Shocking defeat for England. Wasting time on The Hundred instead of using the time to prepare properly to defend a 50 over World Cup makes the ECB look gormless at best.

With the Dutch beating the saffers it's wide open now.

Aussies beat Pakistan and now up to 4th. We can be as high as third with a convincing win tomorrow.

NZ & India look odds on to qualify but a real scrap now for the other 2 places. Aussies have a much easier run in than anyone else as they have played 3 of the top opponents already.

FFS, one of the most spineless efforts ever on a good batting pitch. Thank god for the final partnership of 70 otherwise we would be bottom of the table on run rate. Have to win all the remaining games to definitely go through, tough with India, Aussies and Pakistan in there.

The pitch was good but the England bowling was appalling.

T'2023 ODI World Cup on 19:02 - Oct 21 with 7852 viewsRodingdale

Decision to bowl in 32°C heat and very high humidity, with some players clearly showing signs of sickness seems to be the key point. Actually started quite well, then Topley got injured and we leaked runs immediately. By the end of the SA innings England were a bedraggled bunch, whilst the SA bowling attack had spent the afternoon heat chilling in the aircon.
