Anyone else seen this on you tube ? Interview with Rio partly covering his time with us and his ambitions regarding being a manager. I would say I was shocked but I can,t as it says so much about our club then and now. Sorry not techy enough to be able to upload. But would recommend a look.

He seemed to just shrug his shoulders and not do anything about it which shows he was as much part of the problem as the players he digs out here. Whole point of him coming in was supposed to be as a dressing room leader to stamp that kind of thing out

Difficult to do when obviously nobody around you cares. It was just a very toxic time. It's a toxic time now but for a host of different reason. I really don't blame Rio for what happened at that time. He didn't play very well but that was about it.
I think it is often forgotten that his wife was dying of breast cancer during the time he was playing with us and sadly passed away just before the end of the season.
I don't know about you but if my missus was going through that I would find it hard to focus at work no matter how much you paid me.

He signed in 2014, she was diagnosed in mid-2015. Also seems to have had quite a history with extra marital allegations
Rio Ferdinand was dreadful for us from the very first game and is as much to blame for the culture around the club as anyone else. Like many others, he took a hefty contract from his pal Redknapp for 1 last final payday. He must've known when he signed that he was a crock
He was the subject of several press exposes of extra- marital affairs (And that's just the ones where he was caught) But since his wife died he has milked that very well and very successfully rebranded himself as a caring father and loving husband. Hypocritical wȧnker.
In summary, fück Rio Ferdinand and the extremely well-remunerated horse he rode in on.

She was, she died before the end of the season
She was diagnosed 5 weeks before she died, which was on 2nd May 2015. She had previously had operations and was given the all clear for a different cancer years before, this was a different illness.
It's neither here nor there, it is horrible, but it wouldn't have affected him at the start of the season so I was highlighting that it shouldn't be used as an excuse for how bad he was.

Yeah agree really, he came in for a payday and washed his hands of anything difficult, Really poor from him. I actually get why redknapp brought him in to run the dressing room like Ainsworth is doing with Cook and co but Rio just couldn't be arsed

I could argue that Ferdinand had been signed to play as the central defender in a back three, but that plan was abandoned after two games. Harold left Ferdinand, Isla & Vargas out to dry with that decision.
Mind you, Caulker, Ferdinand & Dunne, made Rob Dickie look reasonably quick! Having Fer & Mutch strolling about in front of you wouldn't have been of much help though!
