Strong line-up. Shame for Noah, he did nothing wrong on Saturday, but we're playing a different team and different style than Crawley, so I can understand why he'd want Akinde's strength on the pitch to start with.

Good half from the U's Deservedly in the lead. Good approach play should be 2-0 up but plenty of time second half for further goals. Up the U's

How many times this season have we started the second half poorly. Losing Alistair Smith was a big blow. But we are second best at a time when we should be pushing on for further goals. Come on sort it out

Time to change it up. We are too lacklustre and I don't understand it. Wilkinson and Ihionvien could come on. Fresh legs. We are playing three games a week at present. Come on

I'm sorry but we are not being ruthless enough and wasting time with 20 to play is poor. We are better than this

Not really. Just total stupidity on 90+6 minutes and winning 2-0. Need to learn a bit of self control. How many more players will be unavailable for the remaining games?
Mariners gutted by Super U's at the JCS on 22:03 - Apr 16 with 1636 views | wessex_exile | It's been too tense to post anything mid-game, but what a battling performance from the U's. A sublime finish from Tom in the first half, but eclipsed by Akinde's total game, and what a goal to seal it. Thoroughly deserved his MoM award. Any one who thought (me included) that Grimsby would be on the beach, we had to withstand huge pressure from them second half. In previous games, and certainly under different regimes, we would have folded, but this team is made of sterner stuff. Magnificent result, on to Notts County now - Up the U's!

Mariners gutted by Super U's at the JCS on 22:35 - Apr 16 with 1568 views | bwildered | The much awaited back to back wins well timed at the business end of the season. Played with confidence and aplomb up until we scored and then went off the boil. Had to battle second half until Big John gives us the breathing space needed . Two nil win, both strikers to their credit on the score sheet and a blank at the other end, ( the two goals given us another big advantage.). Now need an unbeaten run into the end of the season, to set us up for the next . Onwards and upwards U’s

Mariners gutted by Super U's at the JCS on 22:44 - Apr 16 with 1557 views | wessex_exile | ...and now, we're in the world where Sutton have to win their last two games, home against local rivals Crawley Town who need to cement their play-off aspirations, and away against MK Dons who need to assure their 4th place finish for home advantage. It's a tough ask, but they can't afford to drop a point. If they do, it's goodnight Vienna. There's nothing to really celebrate about being the 22nd worst team in this league, but I'll celebrate like it's the title if we achieve it! It's all about survival and moving on next season under the Cowleys.

22nd is worst case. I think we should now be aiming to overtake both Grimsby and Salford. Seeing the back of FGR, Sutton and (in future seasons) Salford, Barrow & Harrogate would rid L2 of (IMHO) the five worst away trips to soulless non-league standard venues. At least Crawley make an effort to provide a decent (albeit expensive) “Fanzone”. Glad to see the back of Mansfield (nasty fans) and Stockport (unfriendly pubs) too. However, I suspect other L2 fans probably put a visit to Colchester in the same bracket. The Green King IPA poisoned breeze block stadium bars share the same ambience as the urinals. We could do so much better. Hopefully, things will improve when the Northern Gateway catering establishments open before next season and when public transport finally gets sorted. But what joy to see Chesterfield promoted, despite similarities with our (and Shrewsbury) Barr constructed stadia. Great pubs and not too far up the A1. See you in the Derby Tup!
Mariners gutted by Super U's at the JCS on 09:05 - Apr 17 with 1404 views | bwildered | Think the last month has shown there is not much difference between top and say fourth from bottom. The vital ingredient creating chances and putting the ball in the net consistently. Next few games are vital in finishing strongly which psychologically can put us on the front foot for the future.

Completely agree with this. I thought we were good value for the win on Tuesday night. Probably should've been two or three up at half time and had to weather a bit of a storm in the second half but deserved the win, topped by a sublime finish by Big John. I thought Hopper and Fevrier were both decent on the night and that was one of the best games I've seen Akinde have for us. Mingi looks a totally different player now. Strong, confident and assured on the ball. Also thought Dallison had a good game with some great blocks, his sending off was unfortunate as he went for the ball but was late. Could be his last action in a Col U shirt which is a bit sad.
