Newly appointed Essex Second XI Scorer, Andy Thurogood, took that Metro Bank Cup gig Bewildered in the absence of First XI Scorer, Paul Parkinson, who has stepped up after Tony Choat’s retirement. I will only provide cover if Essex CCC have both absent or one is absent on a day where there is an overlap of First XI and Second XI fixtures. I am too old to chase around the country every week, so happy to remain as “Reserve Scorer”. On Sunday, I was hence running the Colchester Cricket & Beer Festival whilst watching Colchester Women beat Hutton CC in a nail-biting Essex Women’s Premier League finish, with one eye on the Essex Live Stream and a real ale in hand. Col U fans deprived of local football due to the switch to St Neots Town might consider wandering down to Castle Park to watch Essex Premier League Cricket, whilst listening to the 80s Event (Human League, Bananarama, Level 42 etc) being held in the adjacent field, free of charge. Decent bar available, top quality cricket, hopefully sunshine. | | | |
