How easy is it to move to the US, get a visa etc ?
I met a girl in Fort Worth recently and I’ve been over twice to see her, just wondered what others have experienced etc?

True, I'd let them get over themselves and see if they manage to avoid civil war if the spoiled orange baby loses. That said, having been in Canada for a month and listening to Mrs PH's fam and friends, its not all maple syrup and good manners over there.
However, if any of our colonial cousins in 'merka have time today, I've still got three votes left to cast in North Carolina. The two remaining in Georgia can get in before 3 am Thursday. If Harris doesn't win, then it won't be due to the 14 votes I've got in over the last week. |  |

At the risk of sounding a bit silly, if you’ve had a 10 year work visa then you pretty much know the answer already?
You will need a company to sponsor you for a work visa - it’s about the same difficulty level as it was previously, and internal transfer is always the smoothest process. Obviously depending on what you do, there are other types of specialised visa available. You can then apply for a green card after 2-5 years.
And if you’re minted, you can get a visa to ‘invest’ by opening a business. From memory it starts around $500k, you must employ a minimum number of employees and the business must survive to retain your visa. | | | |

Long story, ex who caused me a lot of problems so to be safe, I applied for a Visa and the embassy at Grosvenor Square. They said at the time I probably didn’t need the visa But it made it easier going on trips to the US as customs would never ask any questions. That expired so I use ESTA Now. The ESTA questions have now changed to ‘have you been convicted of certain crimes’. It was pretty vague 12 years ago. Thank you for your advice. Something to think about, just looking at all options.

Your mistake was not going before 9/11 and the subsequent rule changes regarding international security. Prior to that, Britain was one of only two countries that would not divulge its nationals' criminal records to US Immigration. Handy for some | |

dated an American girl once... the idea of living there ended that relationship.
Married a Spanish woman instead and moved here.
As other expats will attest, any move will be difficult whether thats far to America or somewhere in the EU zone.

Unless you feel strongly enough to propose, get married, then wait a couple of years before moving out, it's tough. Best guess as some others have suggested is through a work visa. Not sure of your line of work and whether that's an option.
I was lucky enough that my company had a UK HQ but also had an office in the US and they sponsored me.
Alternatively (check the math with a lawyer) you can do something like 180 days per year on a tourist visa. Can't recall if that needs to be split into two visits or not. You wouldn't be able to work over here during that time though. |  | | |

Once went to Fort Worth on business. Went out for a meal by myself and ordered a bottle of wine. They refused and then proceeded to serve me 6 individual glasses of wine. Go figure.
The next night I was meeting a group from the company I was doing work for and the first to arrive at the restaurant.
