Fylde away match thread. 15:48 - Dec 26 with 5542 views442Dale

Apart from the shocking defending for their goal where we allowed them four attempts before scoring, it’s been a really good performance without the scoreline to match. Plenty of shots, unlucky at times and some poor choices (Rodney not squaring after going round the keeper).

We are noticeably looking to go direct when required and it’s making a massive difference. Playing with impetus, we don’t ask for much.

Excellent, attack minded performance. Amazed we didn't score more in the first half.
Dale look so good playing that way instead of the tippy tappy tripe at the back. More of the same please.

Thought the Fylde keeper had an absolutely brilliant game, score would have been far bigger had he not played a blinder

Talking of keepers, how cool is Sam Waller playing the ball out short? I know, it gives me palpitations too. Just hope he can keep on doing so without mishap.

Good show from all our lot today. Keep it going into 2025.

An away performance on the front foot. Really good today.

Great to see Kairo back on the scoresheet- Fylde must be sick of the sight of him.
Quadruple save from their keeper was tremendous
Cross by Barlow for the 3rd was tremendous too.

Bring on Alty.

Let's hope Jim makes this the default mode. I only listened live and then watched the highlights, but it was all so much more exciting than the norm And it worked!!! I still feel against top half teams he will go back to possession at the back, but I hope not.

Just watched the highlights again and noticed Ethan Brierley with his family in the away end after our second goal. Bumped into him before when he’s been home visiting and he’s a lovely lad.

Saw him walking in with his dad, he was out in Norden Christmas eve too as my nephew was chatting to him, said the same that he's a lovely lad, his dad's been going Dale for years and a face I always recognise.

Very dominant performance

Rodney did well dropping deep to receive ball and run at them but was somewhat careless in front of goal at times.
Gilmour makes a difference,Godon worked tirelessly.

Keeper distribution by throwing ball proved effective and accurate.

All round a great display

More of the same please!

It was complete dominance from us from the moment that they scored although that goal was a bit of mess from our point of view.

We can be a joy to watch when we play on the front front.

Great performance and attitude! No fear.
Well done to the team and management.
A good result against Alty will set us up for the remainder of the season.

Plenty of positives from that. We have broken the win then loose streak. Mitchell is back among the goals, and he does seem to get on goal scoring streaks so here’s hoping for another. Barlow is looking settled at the club now after a difficult start. Didn’t think he would feature much, but he has staked his claim well. These 2 combined beautifully for the 3rd.
January looks tough, but we are looking reasonably solid in the play off spots at the moment.
Happy.

Thought Barlow was the best player on the pitch, hard to split him and East apart though who is far far too good for this level

Barlow is the epitome of a " broken toy" , following his departure from MUFC after 14 years he has bounced around a few clubs, latterly on 1 season contracts. He perhaps needs a period of consolidation to re-build some confidence and get his career onto an upwards trajectory. He is 25 in January so its time for him to show what he can do. Yesterday could be a turning point for him. Lets hope he is enjoying his football at Rochdale and fulfills some of his early promise...

Was in hospitality yesterday and heard one of the
Directors refer to him as ‘ Basher Barlow’ after his
mini bust up in the Tamworth match.
Made me chuckle

Did the Tamworth number 18 appeal? If not it makes a farce of all the onpitch protests.

He wasn’t in their team at Sutton last Saturday.

Agree with this

Turns out, he has a touch of class about him. This is exactly what we need; players who're capable of performing at a higher level. Without them, we won't reach a higher level, and if this is what JM is aiming to achieve with his squadbuilding, it'll be right out of the Hilly playbook

What that entails, is setting players free: to create, to express their talents. I've said it before, Set Them Free JM

Positive signs at Fylde. Let's see how it goes

This was the Ryan East from last season. Looking for the through ball rather than a sideways pass. So much more effective with Rodney and Mitchell ahead.

Special mention for Okeke who got involved in most of the dangerous moves.
