TVOS Preview - Rochdale v York City on 08:20 - Mar 25 with 5052 views
IF we are to make the playoffs and IF we harbour hopes of promotion via the playoffs, tonight will give indication of realistic hopes.
Barnet were way too good for us and look like they will walk the league. How we perform tonight against York is next level down. They comfortably beat us at their place early on in the season.

Barometer game.

They didn't beat us comfortably. It was 1-0 in a fairly mediocre game (seven months ago, so it doesn't really have anything to do with tonight), with their goal coming from a defensive error, otherwise it would probably still have been 0-0 now.

It was the absolute lack of threat from going behind after 4 minutes that night which led to my ‘comfortable’ comment. York easily coped for 86 minutes with anything we had.

It happens, especially in the early stages of a season when teams are finding their feet.
I don't think it means anything about tonight, given it was so long ago.
We won four of the next five too, so at the time it didn't affect us significantly.

I've honestly got no confidence of us winning tonight. I really hope McNulty and the team prove me wrong, but for me Bird adds to our team what Hayes did last season and without them we are too boring and predicatable to play against.

He has been a valuable addition to the squad but we won games prior to him joining.

No reason why we shouldn't get a result tonight if enough players bring their A game. Although they are a strong team York have not been in great form recently.
Interesting selection. Would have preferred Barlow and Allarakhia to start, but let’s see. Hoping it turns into an inspired team selection by the manager. A win would certainly calm the supporters nerves and result in a match thread of no more than 3 pages. UTD

No sign of Rodney at all.

Outnumbered in midfield, not winning many second balls. Nice work down the right at times but final pass all too often cut out. Only one goal in it though!

Disappointing half. We are 2nd best with York much sharper and overrunning us in midfield.
We are ineffective in the final third again giving their keeper a very comfortable evening.
Need a big improvement with early subs.
York dominated after their goal but we weren't 2nd best in first 15 mins when we pressed well and built several attacks - if McBride's shot isn't cleared off the line it's a different game

I dont get why we have to start every home game so pedestrian. We've scored 7 goals in 19 games in the first half of our home games this season.
It's like we're not even bothered until the second half.
We did not start slow we started a 100 mile an hour as did they but we lost the mid field battle and have simply nothing up front to cause York a problem . Changes are needed and its time for Jim to earn his corn and find us some inspiration,

I thought we were doing ok but not quite clicking until Pearce's super strike.....Waller's long "drives " are not working yet and the York defenders have Kairo in their pockets......Tobi needs to get better crosses in but apart from that we are out of the Play Offs.
Expect a few more pages.
