Bit of a nightmare for the lad last night.
Came on as an early sub for Scotland and attracting criticism for all three goals scored by Iceland at Hampden.

Much of the criticism I’ve read I think is OTT and harsh. He could have done better is the phrase to use, they weren’t goalkeeping howlers in my book. The defence didn’t do him any favours.

That’s true.
That second goal especially was a real comedy of errors. If Dale had conceded that there would have been a six page thread on here!
I was never quite sure why we signed Slicker on loan - didn’t he get substituted through injury in his first game?

We only signed him because "City Slicker" looked a good headline......

Just seen highlights. He's at fault for all 3. First goal he passes the ball to the Iceland player - his fault. The 2nd goal he is rooted to his line from the corner and fumbles the ball in and the 3rd goal the header goes right through his hands. Woeful.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

All three were definitely down to the keeper. He was terrible.

Scotland have history of developing useless goalies.

Did local hero Andy Goram keep net for them?

Yes, Goram was a decent keeper though.

That’s right, think he used to play as a wicketkeeper in the Saddleworth League.

I suppose a bit similar to Killian Barrett for us recently. He may go onto a good career but 8 games for Solihull last season and 18 games for us this season isn't what you want when you are in cup semi finals and play off games. He didn't make what you would call 'glaring errors' for any of the 5 goals he conceded in those 2 games but he could have done better. Hopefully we can address this problem as we've not had a settled, decent keeper for a while now. Yes you may get lucky once in a while with loan keepers but its not the way forward if you want a settled defense.

He was responsible for both the Spennymoor goals. The first goal came about from his initial pass out to the edge of our area, the ball was lost from that and a few seconds later was in the back of the net. The second goal was crying out for him to either catch the high ball or punch it, he had plenty of time but instead did neither and stayed rooted on his line. He was also responsible for Southends winning goal, he was running around his area and caught com

He was also responsible for Southends winning goal, he was running around his area like a headless chicken and caught in no man's land as the cross came over for the headed goal. Poor goalkeeping and it was very costly. It's on the manager though, his decision to keep blooding young goalkeepers for other clubs with very little experience and it cost us in both of those games. Alongside other decisions. The budget afforded him the opportunity to bring in a lot of players, surely some that money could have been used to sign a experienced goalkeeper. It's the most important position on the pitch.

I know he let in 3 goals the other night (against Wales) but the Lichtenstein goalie looked pretty good.

His son is still local as well and coaches one of the Littleborough Junior Football Club teams.
