Turns out they’re top of the league—played five, won four, drawn one. And yes, that’s Brian Barry Murphy at the helm. The same Brian Barry Murphy we once treated like he’d just wandered in off the street with a traffic cone on his head. Maybe this is his road-to-Damascus moment… or maybe football’s just a glitchy simulation and we’re all NPCs. Who knows? I do like to check in on the ghosts of Rochdale past—Blackpool, Peterborough (which, let’s face it, is basically Dale in exile). And now Cardiff. I’ll be watching. Like spotting Jamie Lee Curtis in Trading Places—who knew?. Trading places - so good that film... | | | | |

| BBM Watch on 11:58 - Dec 15 with 392 views | Cedar_Room | Here's the article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/dec/15/cardiff-city-brian-barry-murphy There isn't too much in there about Rochdale except for this bit: "The 47-year-old, a proud Irishman, led a mini-revolution at Rochdale. He introduced videos of training on the television screens in the canteen and overhauled the playing style. Detailed sessions quickly convinced veteran players of his managerial credentials" and no mention of the fact he got us relegated with this mini-revolution which showed his managerial credentials. I genuinely have no idea why this major fact keeps getting missed from every article about him. I wrote another post a while back detailing all the players from his squad who have gone on to have successful careers in the Prem, Championship and L1. We were more than good enough to stay up but all he cared about what impressing the Man City bosses as a supportive of young players/possession based coach. If that cost Rochdale their L1 status then it was a small price to pay. Can't stand the fella, or his missus. | | | |
