A welcome return for a much loved manager or
booed as a Beale like lying deserter ?

I might clap him first half then boo him for the second

I think a little table beside the pitch would be a nicer touch. White table cloth, a plate of paella and a pint of Estrella.

Poll: Who is your player of the season?

I thought it was quite amusing when Dykes got clapped warming up in front of the Paddocks then booed when he came on.

I thought the booing was for Robinson who was being subbed off. Mine were anyway.

As I have said in an earlier thread

Applause at the beginning for me as will always be grateful for what he did for us, and to be honest was gutted he went

But then after that lets go get 3 points

Would be more than happy to get one over Marti and his Leicester team.

The win is most important. Beating an old manager a little icing on the cake.

It’s football! It’s tribal. All part of the fun.

Come on lads let’s get the win and show him we’ve improved as a team and enjoying our football (mostly) again.

He is the past.

Get behind Julien and the boys.

Cifuentes did his job here, but he is not exactly ripping it up at a supposedly better club. Clap him at the start, but after that, no thanks. He is managing the opposition.

Stephan has done well, so far.

Players and managers rarely stay long at a club. We are unusual with Dunne, Smyth, Field and Cook, being here for several seasons. Our managers hardly ever last two full seasons.

The only ever presents are us muppets who are brain dead to keep supporting such a sh*t football team, that never do f all !!!

Maybe then we should clap ourselves....

I'm baffled by those expressing bafflement. It would be a boring sport if supporters had no opinion or feeling about their opposition - no rivalries, no narratives etc. Might as well watch cricket.

I also disagree with the post to the top somewhere that appreciation for Marti would be an insult to Stéphan. To the contrary, I'd imagine it would be reassuring that we as supporters appreciate and show our appreciation to our good managers.

I'd imagine he'll get a warm reception, give a wave to the crowd, get some applause, and then game on, with both sides desperate to beat the other , given where we are in the table, the looming Xmas fixture list, and the satisfaction both Marti and the QPR players would get out of getting one up on the other.

There is our club motto….

QPR - ‘we are unusual’

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

This thread was always going to polarize as he still does .

Lots of the same voices who wanted shot of him still jumping at the chance to talk about him though. Strange that .

Like many , thought he did well in the circumstances. No point going over ‘the end’ of his time with us . The PR machine has sorted that out quite nicely .

But , quick clap before the game maybe, then I want to beat him desperately.

My concern is more what our head coach does ?
Marti and Xavi will know every weak link and try to expose it . So JS has to show proper nous and experience this weekend , more than any other so far to make sure we win this game .

Madsen clearly has an axe to grind and one or 2 others probably .

Need to use that as fuel and win this football match !

A brief, low-energy raising of the eyebrows paired with minimal head tilt and puckering of the corners of the mouth, communicating acknowledgement without committing to a smile.

Maybe every home fan should take their Christmas card list, then, as Marti walks out, showily cross his name off it .

I don't hold a grudge against him, he did a good job with a thin squad and fluctuating support from the board/ C suite. Like most managers without a strong connection to QPR, he probably wasn't going to stay that long and in any case, he appeared to be forced out at the end.

In JS we trust.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I get your point about that Cifuentes has useful knowledge about the squad, but he won't know everything. There are likely to be 4 or 5 players in the 11 with whom he didn't work, plus Madsen is a different player from last season. They are not his team now.

How quickly we forget! Some of the worst football I’ve ever seen at LR was under Cifuentes.

I can only assume you’ve not been to many games in the past if this is really true…

Are you 12? Or is it personal with Cifuentes? Worse than some of the football under?

Ainsworth?
Critchley?
McLaren?
JFH?
Hughes?
Redknapp?
Hart?
Harford?
Houston?
Francis (2nd time)
Even spells under Holloway in league One had some dreadful football, even if it was a great time.

“Some of the worse football I’ve seen at LR”…only if you’ve only been watching football at LR since early 2024.

Thought he did a great job for us and he'll get a good cheer from me...I won't be there so it won't make any difference anyway

Did a fantastic job for us in difficult circumstances, still not sure how he kept us up with a Forward line of Frey, Kolli and Lloyd, minor miracle.

Most manager’s will be looking around for future opportunities so don’t understand any serious negativity.

So what is your point?

I wouldn’t put any of the football under Cifuentes in the category of “some of the worst football I’ve ever seen”. Saw worse under each of those managers. Bad, occasionally, yes, but nothing like “some of the worst”. Like I said, perhaps you didn’t see the football under the others because you were too young/not born/not around then, or perhaps it’s personal with Cifuentes for some reason.

It’s such an utterly ridiculous comment, you have to expect challenge on it.

It’s interesting that you think this pro/anti Cifuentes is somehow split along generational divides.

The term 'worst football' is flexible isn't it?

Some people mean boring, some people mean lacking skill, some mean poor results.

No. I don’t. That’s a pretty dumb straw man you’ve created there.

I simply think that the statement that “some of the worst football” you have ever seen was played under him is ludicrous. When positing why you might say such a thing, the obvious answer is you’re too young to have seen much other football, or you’ve only been around watching Rangers for a few years, or you (not me or anyone else) has a personal thing against Cifuentes.

I didn’t say anything about pro/anti Cifuentes being split along generational divides.

That's a list and a half of real shite stuff. I would remove Francis as first time he was great. Halford was a absolute turd Houston barely remember. Ainsworth football was.un watchable even the Burnley win !! Critchley was decent at point got results. JFh was dull as paint drying what about dowie that was not the finest football. I must admit there are some horrid football moments caused to this club by some on that list

Dowie had a decent record in the short time he was in charge before Briatore binned him.

Magilton wasn’t in that list becuase, from memory, the football was decent under him.

Haven’t included De Sousa or Gigi Di Canio either, as don’t remember them having particularly dreadful football. But dull at times but not awful.

That list was meant to be managers who I remembered some awful football and performances under to counter the comment I was replying to.

Gerry was great first time around, but that second spell had some shocking performances in it and the football was very poor.

Holloway in that first spell had mainly great times and lots of wins, but early on there were still some awful performances and dreadful football (Vauxhall Motors…).

This is kind of my point, under Cifuentes I don’t think the team and performances ever really plumped such depths. Maybe 2-0 away loss to Millwall. The losses, especially at the start of the 2nd season weren’t so much awful football as simply being way too open. Hull and Boro at home spring to mind.

That list I gave provided us, at times, with worse football than anything Cifuentes did.

But, to be clear, I hope Stephan proves to be even better. It’s looking positive. More to work with, but I like him. And I hope we stuff Leicester!

It’s not a Cifuentes or Stephan debate.

I just don’t see how any sane QPR fan, who has been around for a while, can think Cifuentes, at the very least, was anything worse than decent for us. Personally, I’m grateful he kept us in this league over two seasons with a set of strikers of Dykes and Armstrong in one season, and Frey and Celar in another…
