Football and corruption part 2 10:49 - Feb 4 with 2479 viewsRAFC1907

Not sure if any of you guys remember but I did question if any of you thought football was corrupt in some ways regarding officials and match fixing etc, a few month back.

Any body seen sky sports?

425 corrupt officials, including players, and 380 fixed European games.

England v Portugal anybody??

Does anybody also read 442? (not his posts) ;)

Last month they quizzed 100 professional footballer's, some shocking inside knowledge released regarding drugs, performance enhancing, match fixing etc, diving.

Furthermore the doctor at the centre of the Lance Armstrong investigation, the police seized over 100 pouches full of blood believed to be from players in Spain, along with tennis players and swimmers.

Is any sport clean??

It's almost inevitable that in any organisation or competition involving massive numbers of participants, that some of them will be 'bending the rules'. There is no reason why football should be any different.

Football, and sport in general, is a global industry with massive rewards. Organised crime syndicates will have been at work corrupting insiders and recruiting individuals to fix results and affect outcomes. Nearly every example of high profile sport has cases of players using 'unauthorised/illegal substances' or taking payments to affect results.

Nobody should be surprised by the latest published information. Soccer, cricket, athletics, rugby - they all have instances of 'corrupt practices' being proven in this country.

It will be interesting to see which Champions League fixture played in England is the source of the latest allegations and who the individuals were who 'fixed' the outcome.

We've heard it all before and will doubtless hear it all again. It will always be there. We just have to hope that the bad apples can be rooted out and that the integrity of the games and sport in general can remain intact. In terms of the numbers quoted, it is a minuscule amount compared to the total numbers of participants. Let's hope it stays that way because I don't think it will ever be totally eradicated.

You've only got to look at the 2002 world cup in S Korea to notice there's a match fixing culture in the worldwide game. I can't say much has improved to this day with regards to corruption. Look at the Italian leagues, 2 scandals within about 4 years of each other i think. FIFA really need to sort this kind of thing out!!

Jaap Stam taking steroids etc, no matter how hard you train you simply can not get that size unless you are on something, totally unnatural.

Is that the same game where Frank Rijkard was spotted going into the referee's office at half time by Steve Clarke? Vaguely remember that official retiring straight after and was reported to have attempted suicide? Have I just made all that up?

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

As Fowler said in his Auto-Biography and has always maintained, he has never taken coke in his life.

If he was a coke head and was still the best striker in the country then how rubbish must the rest of them been?

I go along with this myself, rumours started by fans of an opposition club to cause mischeif

Don't believe it?

Well Andy Bishop is obviously gay, aint he.

That was the game that I immediately thought of, it was such a bizarre display by the ref and was so biased against Chelsea.

However looking at Man City's displays over the last two seasons in TCL you could suspect anyone of those games .

If any Dale players are taking performance enhancing drugs then they wanna get a refund from their dealer!

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Sol Campbells pefect goal against Portugal.

QPR kicking the ball back to City last season as they knew Bolton had already been relegated, look at the state of the challenges leading upto the goal.

Tottenham v Lazio this season, spurs score 2 clear goals. None given.

We all know the 'big teams' in the FA cup get better treatment than the lower league teams.

The list could go on and on and on.

Was it Macc v Bury on the last game of the season a few years back, someone stuck £2000 on Bury 2 - 0 and look what happend.

Too many unusual incidents for me to think the game in England is clean from corruption.

Im sure many of the folk out there are well educated regarding a certain type of people that created the game in the first place, so no surprises with this news coming out.
