I've had a quick look through the league at all of the teams that have sacked managers so far this season (Hartlepool excepted, where he left by choice) - and where they were sitting in the league when they made the decision. Forest Green Exeter Northampton Bristol Rovers Tranmere Newport (after 9 games, 15th) Swindon Port Vale Sutton United Mansfield Salford Hartlepool (after 19 games, 11th*) Crawley Walsall (after 31 games, 21st) Bradford (after 33 games, 11th) Harrogate Carlisle (after 31 games, 23rd) Leyton Orient (after 35 games, 18th) Rochdale Colchester (after 24 games, 22nd) Barrow (after 37 games, 21st) Stevenage (after 37 games, 22nd) Oldham (after 25 games, 22nd) Scunthorpe (after 15 games, 24th) The vast majority of sackings have happened with teams in 21st position or below - off the top of my head I can't remember us being in those positions all season? Interestingly, we're only one of three teams in the bottom half not to have made a change! Hopefully Stockdale can turn it around, and we can pull a couple of results together and aim for a realistic 16th to 18th position finish this season... have Summer to rebuild and reassess after a couple of months next season. | |
