Quite like that apart from the red trim to the Crown Oil logo.

Blue shorts and socks for the first time in six years too.

The sponsors possibly stipulated while their brand logo is red they want some part of the detail in red,

Looks cheap and ill-fitting.

Ok. Quite smart but a bit boring. Blue shorts would be a mistake. There isn’t enough black as it is.

Prefer it to many recent versions . Ilike the simplicity.

Quite like it.
Would much prefer to see it with white shorts and socks though but you can’t have everything.
Is it me or do players look bigger in white kit?

Agree with that, the simple looking shirts always look more classy. The blue Italian shirts down the years always look fantastic.

Not a fan. Dull design that just takes us back to the plain blue shirts of old. If we are supposed to have a blue/black colour scheme then plain blue shirt and shorts with just the slightest bit of black trim really isn’t it. Disappointing as previously O’Neills at least seemed to be trying.

Once again the cost of the infant kits is borderline criminal. Last season's didn't go into the sale either, unlike all other sizes. Disappointing.

Initial thoughts, it's a smart looking shirt. I like the richness of the blue and like the collar design. I think the sleeve sponsor would look better reversed with white letters on the blue shirt as oppose to a big white splodge on the sleeve.
Is it a Rochdale kit though? It's just a nice blue shirt, it's most definitely not blue and black stripes (or interpretation of stripes that Palace manage to do so well) which gives us a unique identity, which for me should be paired with white shorts and socks.
Having said all that I have just seen it on the online shop and the side panels which also run down into the shorts look very nice and lifts the overall look somewhat and it is starting to grow on me.
Blue and black stripes next year though please

The uniqueness is the colourscheme of blue/black/white. We all probably all have different views on how this should look. Stripes are one option but it does help to use different designs - Palace have had halved shirts in the past - but I do think we should look to go back to stripes next year.

Varying the interpretation of how the colours are used should be used to increase sales. I agree more thought should be put into the shorts and socks, though again I agree I like that the shorts have the continuation of the side panel on the shirt.

It depends on what you call a “Rochdale kit”.
When I first started going Dale played in white shirts and black shorts.
We then had a golden period in the club’s history when the colours were switched to blue shirts and white shorts.
Then came the white shirts with a double colour sash. Shame the team at the time wasn’t as stylish as the kit!

Fair point. When I started going it was white shirts with a red watering can, then switched to blue. I say Rochdale kit because black and blue stripes was what was voted for, for our second millennium and as has been been said was certainly unique among football league clubs at the time (I'm not sure about non league)
I think it provides the club with a strong brand identity which people tell me is good. You're never going to please all the fans no matter what kit we play in, it all comes down to personal preference. What I will say though is it's a massive improvement on last seasons kit and that was chosen by the fans, apparently.

You have lots of examples here of how Inter Milan have played around with black and blue stripes in recent years:

It doesn’t feel like we ever think about any of these approaches. Even if you don’t want stripes there surely are lots of other ways to go - quarters, blocks, hoops, halves, sash etc etc

This is barely any different from the 2014/15 home kit, which itself was barely different from late 90s/early 00s home kits. Feels pretty lazy to me this one. Hopefully I’m in the minority and it sells well.

Over to the second and third shirts to save the day for the second consecutive season.

The 14/15 kit had no white trim at all, well apart from the badge/fila logo/numbers so really maybe we went too far the other way there. The late 90/00s kits did not contain black at all, the similarity was that they also had blue shorts and socks.

We have done different things with stripes - pinstripes (10/11, 11/12, 21/22), thinner stripes which didn’t work (13/14) stripes that fade away (18/19), pinstripes within the stripes (22/23) and patterned stripes (23/24).

In total agreement we should do more with the unique colours and things like hoops/halves etc would be worth a try. Again, if only because doing something new might lead to more sales. Repeating stripes or plainer shirts isn’t a great idea, that’s why you’d think stripes or something else will return next year.

Since we’ve gone to blue/black/white in 2008 we’ve done ok in the main with switching up designs, but there is the opportunity to do more. 15/16 still annoys though, when apparently it was the players who chose it and black was missing entirely.

Fergie once said famously about the Man U kit & the prices..

There are only 11 people that need it and they are on the pitch..

Having kids, more my son, they want the latest kit, used to be every 2 years but it is a cash cow now.

Not bought a kit top for a long while, prefer training tops as to me more casual / smart without the Crown Oil logo in your face
