Got away with one today, quite sloppy play - fortunately Morecambe were neat and tidy but no real cutting edge. Forest Green and York dropping points is a bonus - Boreham Wood look very good though. [Post edited 26 Dec 17:04]

Great win. Didn’t play that well but you’ve got to have the steel to get results in games like that and we have that.
There is so much obvious confidence in each other that they can respond to adversity and still remain consistent to the overall plan knowing it will get a result.
Requiring York to have a sticky patch? It’s only one game, but that creates doubt. They have it. We don’t.
A word for Jake Burger - never let us down, played in various positions displaying lots of potential and today he came on at half time and was our MotM in the second half. Everything good we did went through him. There’s a real player there, hope we see him become one at Dale. | |

Morecambe were no mugs and ran periods of the game....it was still a good game to watch and Dale had to withstand an onslaught for the last few minutes and added time. But we stayed together and strong.....win and results have gone our way. I think at least a draw against Pools at the Wham will still see us top for New Year (check it!) which is fantastic.
Slight criticism today was the long kicking frm Broome was hardly finding a Dale player and therefore coming back at us and a better finishing team might have exploited that....but 2 super goals and riding high ce soir. Happy or what. | | | |

The thing with Burger is that he did not feature much earlier in the season but from his interviews you can tell he has not sulked, he has knuckled down and taken his opportunities when they have come. He may not be a regular starter but we will need everyone to contribute. | | | |

The sort of game where I reckon we would’ve conceded a late equaliser in previous years. Agree with what 442 said about Burger- his play has really matured this year, he’s doing the simple things well and not trying to force the play like he did at times last year. Also EEL- I think he’s been brilliant this year but he seems to have really developed in his defending in 1:1 situations. He rarely gets POTM, but for me he’s up there with anyone for POTS.
Final thing is it’s so noticeable how whilst all the team is improving, it’s individual players are also developing. EEL with his 1:1s, Gilmour with his end product and virtually every player‘s weaker foot amongst other things. |  | | |

Agree, Burger is developing into a gem of a player - so bright and energetic, quality on the ball. If he improves his finishing he will play at a higher level. | | | |

That tactic is part of how we play, it might be frustrating at times but the players know exactly what they’re doing. There are plenty of examples this season of how it’s resulted in a goal.
