I literally had this conversation with my daughter and her boyfriend 10mins ago when she said that the average height of a CEO is 6ft. In a way it is a self fulfilling prophecy as they say that taller people have an air of authority, which lends to people respecting them which breeds confidence which increases the air of authority until it becomes an air of arrogance then everyone hates you. |

I look forward to the first day of pre-season video posts and show reels next week and seeing the players standing with their hands on their hips listening in to an overdubbed speech from someone off camera. |

I have it on good authority that the club are planning to make a statement tomorrow at 12pm to confirm that they have secured a new long term deal with a new supplier of toilet rolls and an upgraded napkin offering for the corporate boxes. On Tuesday they will be all over socials to confirm that they have renewed the contracts of 2 under 8’s who have ‘shown maturity and ability beyond their tender years. [Post edited 22 Jun 22:31]

You watch one out of interest and then the algorithm kicks in to ensure you go down a rabbit hole for hours at a time. |

If only I could just ‘sip’ a cold beer on a hot day. By the time the Bar man has returned with the card payment machine from the other side of the bar I am telling him to hang fire and pull another one for me |

Surely the word “proud” is superfluous in that sentence. |

I’m going to add more negativity to this thread- sorry. I hope his hair grows back during pre-season. I don’t want my eldest daughter dating and then marrying a skinhead. The fact that he has extended his contract has heighten the chances of him become my son-in-law. |

“ I'm trying to figure out how the RAT wasnt able to help spool the engines up for a Toga, and i'm still not seeing evidence of flaps and slats extended.” I was watching one of those pilot channels on YT and he was saying that the RAT is meant for handling emergency power loses at higher altitude to provide enough power and time to allow pilots to find and navigate towards an airfield. Therefore the RAT engaging at 200 ft would be of no use but it being deployed is an indication that there was indeed some catastrophic power failure. |

Oh great, we’ve booked a hotel in Alcudia having not been to Mallorca before. Has anyone had a nice experience there??? We have booked an adults only hotel at the top end of the beach just before the port and it was not cheap!! Hotel does have great reviews though so hoping we can just walk out on to the beach and go for a dip as and when we want to - and don’t have to park ourselves in a cramped square of sand if it is really busy . |

Such good advice on this thread as usual - and appropriate timing for me (yet AGAIN!) I go through a cycle every 3-5 years of "doing something about my weight" but I have found it difficult to get down to and maintain a healthy weight since I was in my late 20s. I am now 57, on blood pressure tablets since my late 30s, and 17.5st (I hope it is not more) - but get away with it just a little bit because I am 6'3. I know I am 2 - 2.5 stone over this image of an ideal weight. My problem is that I get trapped in this cyclical world of - go to get some new clothes for a wedding/party/holiday - spend half an hour sweating in changing rooms in the shops in Westfields, nothing fits and then I beat myself for the rest of the day/week about what a "fat lazy coount" I am and useless. Decide the next week to do something about it, lose a stone or so, go out buy new clothes, feel a million dollars for 2 weeks, then the feeling wears off, fall back in to bad habits, eat and drink too much, need to buy some bigger clothes again as I had thrown out my "fat clothes for once and for all". Can't fit into anything, feel like a "fat........." and so the cycle goes on. So my challenge is not food, it is not exercise (I am currently going to the gym 2-3 times a week) it is my mental health. I really have to challenge my mental health and kick start the motivational genes to not go on these temporary diets, with temporary gains, a month or two of feeling good but to make life style changes that become default behaviours and not something I see as a sacrifice. As of Monday this week I have started another "attempt" to get rid of some of my belly before the middle of July when I go on holiday so that I won't be beating myself up when I try to pull on my swimming trunks and worry there is a risk of my arse splitting them when I bend over... Discipline is what i need to find, I watch my youngest who is 22 and is vegan and how she lives her life in terms of diet and eating naturally and slowly I am trying to introduce those small changes - but my killer is the Friday night, "right, I'm getting a Chinese, don't care about the rest of you". Eat well, drink well, exercise well = sleep well = eat well, drink well, exercise well = sleep well = eat well. It is not rocket science - it's just fighting the lazy s od inside who just wants to eat Chinese, drink Guinness and Jameson and veg in front of the tv instead of going out and getting some fresh air in the evening. So, just off to the gym at 3pm it is then. |

I think the last time I enjoyed LR as much as tonight was the Leeds 4-0 game. Good atmosphere and banter in the lower loft. Kieran Morgan different class and best player on the pitch. Well done the club for making it free entry those young players would have loved playing with that level of support behind them tonight. |

Whether you love him, hate him, despise, or even merely nonplussed about him the fella is a talent. Brand X not my cup of tea but man he can play the drums. Could never really take to early Genesis with either PG or PC on vocals, most of prog is lost on me but there is no denying talent. |

I must admit in the last couple of weeks when the Mrs has watching some old George Gently episodes I have been sat there looking at some of his suits and overcoats and thinking, hmmm, loving that herringbone blue tweed overcoat. Is it an age thing? |

I came on here a couple of weeks ago asking for pointers to legit Premier League football data to help the future son-in-law get data for his Masters in computer science. He was showing it to me and as he is someone who comes from a background with no interest in sport, he was amazed at how obvious were my predictions about longevity of management + income and investment over the period of 20+ years leads to sustained success. We just cannot pull out of the rinse and repeat of hire and fire/lose managers and run on a shoestring budget. |

This is not just a piece of insightful journalism, it is a mirror which needs to be held up in front of Rueben, Christian and Lee Hoos, a mirror into which they should be made to stare at again and again in the coming days until their eyes actually open to see their reality of where we are and this constant cycle of false dawns, a little promise and then the usual slump leading to change. I can forgive some of the things that manifest each year which the current owners have to grapple with as a consequence of both the total mismanagement of the club during the early Fernandes Premier League drive years, together with the reality that we are one of multiple professional football clubs in London, with limited real estate landlocked by residential streets and blocks of flats with no room for meaningful expansion, with the Westfield and UCL neighbours pricing us out of any land potential in the immediate area. I can accept that once you have sponsored every stand, and sold the naming rites for each of the urinals in the stadium to some distant offshoot business of Rueben's back in Malaysia that we still don't have much money to make progress. What I cannot accept is that the owners of this football club have entrusted the running of the football club to someone who cannot have been out of university for more than four years. How do you bring in an auditor and not spot the conflict of interest when they turn around and say "I know what you need.... you need me". How do they allow a change in communications towards a Ministry of Disinformation and paranoia to the extent that any communication with the playing staff is stage managed and pre-recorded leading to distrust building within the fanbase. Or is this quite simply a reality based on not having a pot to pee in and therefore the only game in town is to try and con a half decent managerial prospect to the club on the promise of support and cake tomorrow, only to find that they quickly become disenfranchised with the "project" when the players they are given to coach are either not good enough, or worse, would be good enough if they were not always injured. The worst point about this excellent article is the reminder about the tendency for 1 good appointment being swiftly followed by 3 bad ones and we cannot afford this risk at the moment. Therefore at this time I fear it is League One here we come! |
