Can we accommodate both Ayew and Baston in the starting XI?
at 17:03 27 Oct 2019

I started to think a few weeks back that this could become a problem to us.

Rewind back to the end of the transfer window and many of us were excited by the fact that we kept both Ayew and Baston on the books. However since then I’ve seen a few games where we become unbalanced by having Ayew starting out wide only to then see him come deep to find the ball or drift inside.

Our starting XI today addressed the issue and Cooper did what I had wanted him to do for some time which is play with two legit wingers and have Celina advanced central. The downside of that is that we’ve got big wages sat on the bench. Do you think Cooper has been guilty of building an eleven around Ayew and Baston?

Average speed cameras - PT to B.Ferry flyover
at 21:40 10 Sep 2019

New cameras have gone up in the last week on the stretch of M4 between PT and the BF flyover.

No idea if they are live but there’s an absence of ‘camera not in use’ signs.

You’ve been warned.

I hope you saw it.

His fist pump and salute to the NE corner at the end shows how much he cares. It’s been a tumultuous few weeks and to get that squad ready for today will have taken some degree of man management. He clearly has DJ back focussed.

Earthquakes
at 02:27 17 Jan 2019

I was out of the country when Wales experienced its earth tremor of last February. It’s therefore impossible for me to make a comparison.

Fast forward to Monday afternoon and Tokyo region was hit with a quake measuring in excess of 5 on Richter Scale and level 4 by the Japanese standard. I visit Japan half a dozen times a year so I’m familiar with mild tremors as the region is hit on at least a weekly basis, a frequency that has increased since the 2011 disaster. The locals literally don’t bat an eyelid at these mild tremors however Monday was a little more serious - forces sufficiently strong enough to rattle blinds, shuffle coat hangers on coat racks, make pens roll across table tops. The locals were certainly startled by it. To be frank it rattled me as well and I’ve certainly not felt anything like it before - 30 seconds of swaying and erratic movement not helped by the fact that I was on the top floor of our office block. Not something I’d wish to go through again in a hurry.

Has anyone experienced similar? Any subject matter experts out there on PS?

Football Sin Bin Trial
at 22:47 21 Nov 2018

I listened to an intersting piece on TalkSport this evening where the focus was on refereeing. One of the points discussed was a trial taking place this season that introduces a ten minute sin bin for cases of dissent against referees. The longer term plan is to introduce this from next season for all games at tier seven and below of the football pyramid. The feedback obtained so far from officials, players and coaches is that the strong majority are in favour of full time adoption. However there is absolutely no intention within the FA of pursuing a law change that would see introduction of the same rules for the top of the game; I found this bizarre to say the least as it’s one aspect of the beautiful game that needs to be eliminated. We really could learn from the rugby code in this respect. Dermot Gallagher was on the show and he certainly didn’t come across as a supporter for penalising dissent at Premier League level.

I honestly never thought I would see the day.

Irrespective of whatever happens to him from here it’s a case of well done to everyone who has made this happen, including Wilf himself.

Reading between the lines of what Potter says my perception is that Wilf is bringing positivity to the squad on both the training pitch and on match days. We’ve now gone another step forward by accomplishing some game time.

Valencia 0 - 3 Swansea

Where were you? I wasn't fortunate enough to make it out there and didn't even see the game on TV. Stepped off a flight at Heathrow to find us 3-0 up and that moment still gives me goosebumps. I was that gobsmacked that I couldn't even explain the enormity of it to my anti football colleague.

The JDG free kick - absolute class.

Please don't let this descend into the dross of what's happened since then; enough has already been written about that. Instead let's hear your stories.

Recently appeared on tap in my local.

I had previously only tried it once and it was an unchilled bottle at a BBQ so we didn’t really hit it off. However its appearance in the pub meant that I was drawn to try it again and since then it has become my suppage of the heatwave. Beautiful stuff.

I am also noticing it appearing in 660ml bottles, had 6 for £10 this morming.

NHS Pay Rises
at 19:36 21 Mar 2018

About time! If the unions secure the deal then 100,000 staff will instantly earn more than the living wage. This can only work wonders for staff morale and retention as well as attracting new blood into a job sector that is losing employees hand over fist. The rises don’t go right to the top; I hope that there are some tough performance related pay targets for higher NHS management.
