Is this the worst away kit ever ?
at 08:57 27 Mar 2021

Unsurprisingly, having grown up in Bury Park, this is the game I have the most clear and vivid memories of as a lad (14 at that time).

Crouch was already making waves but that day he turned into a hero, the Oak Road end nearly rocked off its hinges and blew Mrs Patels clearly visible undergarments off her washing line on the way in.

Lee Nogan elicited the most synchronised handball shout I’ve ever been part of in the 93rd minute!

The Luton fans at my school were even less impressed the following fortnight when Chris Kiwomya did the dirty on them yet again in stoppage time and then again in ET to set up the opportunity to get humped 6-0 by Arsenal in round 4

So Dickie in the middle, with Kakay on the right of the 3 then?

Sounds better

For years now schools & the teaching profession have been underfunded and chronically unsupported by its policy makers and this has led to such a lack of confidence in the whole system. That goes for parents, students and teachers who now enter the profession knowing half the country will automatically paint them as lazy, underworked freeloaders from day 1, a viewpoint which is rarely challenged publicly. Gove’s love of the system but disdain for those trying to implement it was the final nail in the coffin.

Part of this whole mess was completely predictable. They place so much emphasis on performance measures and take every bit of humanity out of the education process, leading to schools feeling like they have to overwork the bright and drop the struggling at any given point. Doesn’t it stand to reason that this system of standardisation, which is needed, will be managed in such a way that it gives absolutely no thought as to how to manage the expected fall-our other than: here’s £2m to set up a hotline when they all get pi*sed off afterwards?

But on the other hand, how can CAG’s now be trusted? According to half the country, teachers have been doing sweet FA for 6 months now, surely they must have been mighty upset to have to pop the pina colada on the table and fill in a form?

New law introduced in Non League football.

It’s broke...

The attitude of grassroots footballers is a by-product of role-models like John Terry. There will literally be no-one to ref if it’s not even worth the £40 to take the abuse. Believe you me, kids playing the game today makes you wonder where parenting went.

I did 4 weeks of work experience in the Paulo Sousa era, within the team with Ali Russell, Joe Kyle (head of marketing) and Ian Taylor. Paul Morrissey was about as well. I was only a freshed faced uni student delighted I was even there but all told I would say the guys were totally professional and had the club at heart. Just because they may not be born and bred R’s it doesn’t mean they hadn’t bought into owning their positions and they were all trying to do their best. It was really clear they had a lot of time for the fans too.

Let’s be honest, if you can remember back to where we were when we had guns in the boardroom, youth teamers throwing one another onto tube lines and mass rucks with Chinese teams, you’ve got to be happier with the PR of the club at this moment in time? If not then your digging for Drama. British Soap Awards are a better bet for you!!

Holloway slams R's fans

Understand the sentiments but try not to get too precious about it.

There’s little quality in the squad and a whole host of injuries. Everything is about graft and passion. He’s just very high after staring a big low in the face.

I wouldn’t want anyone else fighting our corner right now

Kazenga LuaLua to sign on loan (Dave Mac)

LuaLua > Gladwin

Like for like it's a good start. Polter is replaceable in this market and we can do better, same with Sandro based on his performances for us. Chery might be the only one we are unable to adequately replace. Not sure if Freeman (as suggested), would be a massive step up.

Michael Gove - Proper Ranger

Analogy (from a current secondary teacher):

Change is necessary and prevalent, but must be implemented correctly.

In the past 50-60 years much change has occurred to the laws of the game in football. But imagine in the space of 3-4 years the back pass rule, offsides, kick-offs, goal-line technology, addition of a 2nd ball, golden goal, corners from the halfway line to improve kick distance and a video ref were all introduced.

Some of those are good, relevant ideas. Some are absolute dogshit. But the main point is, you've decided to change the entire game, then throw a referee in to officiate. Oh and you've also made it so if the ref has a crap game when the assessor is present the funding for your salary might be cut and you will be forced to have a personal refereeing coach who is a businessman by trade tell you how to do your job. All the while dealing with more and more players who are demonstrating increasingly severe mental or behavioural issues and fans who all have an opinion, none of which has any real basis in reality but make assumptions based on the Suns 'ref watch' league tables each week.

Levelled assessment at KS3: Gone with no guidance on a replacement
National Curriculum across the board: scrapped and rehashed
League Table Measures: completely rebooted
Wholesale academisation, introduction of free schools, pension changes, GCSE grading and banding changed, horrendous comments implying teachers should man up and crack on, more rigorous OFSTED guidance...

But our school suffering most of all with our "protected education budget", which kept the same figure from the previous government, while increasing both pension and national insurance contributions. My, previously well run school, went from 300k surplus to projected 800k deficit in 2 years without any major change in the school. So teachers are not being hired/replaced and existing staff are used for invigilating exams, covering lessons, trips and activities outside subject areas. All this with massively increased pressures on marking, results and student wellbeing.

Gove might be an R, but every team has its scum element.

Hall, Onuoha, Luongo, Polter, Hoilett & Phillips have all had horrible matches

Toszer and Perch have had horrible QPR careers. Tozser as a 'set-piece' specialist?? He is an absolutely dreadful footballer

I would be very interested to find out how the Caulker deal went down.

I can easily imagine a deal having been struck to avoid us paying back part of the £2m on the proviso that we push through the Austin transfer to avoid a bidding war. Add a loan fee from Liverpool of, what, £1m for 6 months?

£7m for "6 months left" Austin and Caulker to still be out on loan then doesn't sound too bad.

In addition to this, sky sources may well be incorrect!!

The referee
at 00:12 16 Dec 2015

I disagree, I felt he was very strong. He missed a lot of pulling and pushing in the box but it was from both sides and every referee in the country ignores most of that.

Thought Sandro wimped out for the goal, got the sending off correct as it was high but not necessarily out of control and he really got a lot right.

Ramsey has to go
at 00:58 31 Oct 2015

Disagree. I'm no great KH fan but he did not stand out as being poor tonight. And oddly enough based on your comment, I felt his covering and positioning was the most effective part of his game. What he lacked was that extra yard of pace to complete tackles. He was caught not-goal side a few times but that was generally recovering from trying to press and that was due to not quite being quick enough around the park. He was easily the most effective performer in his role of the front 5 bar perhaps JET.

I thought Toszer had a really poor game though. I can understand why he might be preferred to the very similar Faurlin. DT is much more physical. But his work rate is really poor. He never took up a position to receive the ball and his defensive play was lethargic at best. Really feel Ale would have been a better choice.

Agree with Aged. In the context of "success over time", championship mid table is absolutely not as bad as it has been! Do you remember Eric Sabin & Brett Angell.

Aahh...

That I don't agree with. Much as I love what Clint has done for the club he has been physically incapable of performing at this level for a couple of years and tonight he demonstrated a massive lack of pace, agility and even strength which was concerning.

I think Hall has all the raw ingredients, and agree a more experienced defender next to him would help, but I don't think we own that player. Hall/Angella is probably the pairing we should look to develop if we actually are looking to develop rather than replace!
