I live a couple of hundred miles away so it would cost me rather a lot. Re admission prices, they're higher at Gigg than other local teams in the same division. |

To be fair, the current board is making a good fist of it. There's hundreds of thousands in the bank, ground improvements and a 3G pitch pulling in revenue. The test will probably come as they climb up the pyramid. So far, things have been going well on the pitch as one would expect given many of their rivals barely have two pennies to rub together. At some stage, progress will stutter and there's likely to be a clamour to splash the cash. Things might then get interesting. |

I was a Bury fan for 50 years before giving up because I could no longer stomach Day and his apologists/supporters on Beardys. It was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made and the chance of me ever returning is next to zero. However, I still go on Beardys because the never-ending soap opera-cum-farce-cum tragedy is strangely addictive. Nowadays you have to be invited by a current member to read the posts let alone reply to them. The level of hypocrisy can be staggering at times. Essentially, the current situation is that there's a power struggle going on with two opposing factions each digging deeper holes to entrench themselves in. One side is populated mainly by those who supported the ex-Phoenix club and the other by the old guard plus the benefactors. The last few days have seen: a) a highly popular and hardworking volunteer relieved of his duties by the CEO with no reason/s given; he's still waiting for an answer. The CEO has since resigned. b) another volunteer being subjected to abuse and harassment extending to her work and spouse c) the resignation of Young (Chair of the Board) and de Matas (another member of the Board); it was these two and others who promulgated the pro-merger myth of "unity" should a merger go through which, of course, it did. Yep, you really couldn't make it up! Goodness knows what happens next. [Post edited 13 Nov 20:51]
