His 20 minute (but seems like an hour, in a good way) part in JFK is one of my favourite pieces of film, ever. Grips you from the start and sends a chill down your spine by the end of it.
I’m seeing The Skids (whom without the sadly-departed Stuart Adamson, seems a bit like seeing the Pistols without Steve Jones, I suppose) in Nov and SoD are supporting.
I never really got them back in the day but I recall they were one of those bands who had quite a hardcore, cult following, so it might be amusing to see some of those people 35-40 years on.
For about the 112th time, I watched The Usual Suspects last night.
Why should you watch it? I doubt there are many on here who haven’t seen it anyway, but here goes - the amount of time you spend afterwards trying to figure it all out - what was true, what wasn’t, who was real, who wasnt?
Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins atm. A decent enough song to be stuck with for a bit but it’s only in my mind because I read (um, only recently, 30-odd years later) it’s about his bully father knocking him about when he was a kid.
“Mother cries to her husband Daddy, our baby’s gone”
Gets me every time. I tried to play it for a bit of a joke when my daughter went to University but I had to turn it off before those two lines came along.
Another vote for The Killers. Got given a copy of Hot Fuss years ago and they sounded like some Dr Mengele experiment of all the Worst bits of The Cure, New Order (and I do like those two, generally) and Gary Numan. Mr Cntside has me running for the door whenever I hear it. Oh, four more? U2 Coldplay Queen INXS (included because a mate loved them so I got dragged to a few of their gigs in the 90’s and they were as dull as dishwater every time. In the end I had to tell him, sorry, but they’re sh1te.)
He was about as useful for us as his old man was for Tottenham. A Spurs fan I knew back then absolutely hated him. Scored against us at LR, though, natch.
Another lovely Dozzell family/QPR fun fact (IIRC, allegedly, etc), didn’t his Uncle get his collar felt in the “Battle of Portman Road”?
Regarding Masterson, then a Cambridge mate would moan about him to me every bloody week. You know what it’s like - they blame you. I think I was more pleased when he left there than he was.
What always peed me off was that it was only Anton who refused to shake his hand the next time we played the Nazis. I mean, why the hell wouldn’t the whole team stand by AF and refuse to shake the cnts hand as well? Then some of them, years later, (Yes you, Rob Dickie), go and PLAY GOLF WITH THE CNT!!!
Based on those d1ckswab players behaviour the other week, can I vote for Sheff Weds twice?
Otherwise, with all this “Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Gods own county (sp)” crap, it would be quite funny to blow Leeds’ auto hopes out of the water and then three teams from Yorkshire all go down.
Still, nice to not have skin in the game any more, isn’t it?
