 | News Comment | Southampton At Millwall The Verdict at 00:52:55
I think we should have had a penalty in the first half when Robinson was pulled back and therefore was off balance when he took his shot. There was also a suspicion of handball out on the wing for before the cross for their winner. That said for much of the game Millwall were the more aggressive side and probably deserved the win. We badly missed Scienza and Aribo was a disgrace. Hoping for much better next Saturday. |

Really tough this. Yes we have got six points, but not against the best opposition, and I have big reservations about some of the players he starts, including Jack Stephens of course. My thoughts for what they are worth would be to suggest that Sports Republic take their time to ensure they identify a really good candidate this time and at the same time allow Eckert a little longer to see if he can deliver against better opposition. |

I think that performance very much papered over the cracks glad to get 3 points but lucky to do so. Stephens made his usual mistakes that we were lucky to get away with. It sounds like the temporary manager listened to the old guard too much. On the brighter side really good link up between AA and JayRob for the first goal and Scienza looks the real deal. Really hope Scienza's injury is not to bad as apart from the first goal others created very little. He was my motm by some way. Hope the team selection is better on Saturday but hopefully onwards and upwards. |

Not sure I agree with any of the above article but we will see over the next three games. Personally I still think selling Sulemana and Ballard were huge mistakes. |
 | News Comment | Depth Of Southampton Squad Is Will Still's Problem at 20:29:26
Find myself disagreeing with much of this article if not the main premise. To my mind Wood, Edwards, Charles, Jander, Stewart, Armstrong should all be considered starters and also Quarshie who, whilst not faultless, is much better than the alternatives. Cameron Archer also could start if AA can’t for any reason. I am not convinced about Roerslev and it is early to form judgement on Jelert though he certainly is aggressive. |

WestSussexSaint, regarding the referee, I am sure you are correct that Blades fans would have a very different view. The facts remain however that Stewart was tripped with no contact on the ball by the keeper and McCarthy was clearly (from the tvs viewpoint) held down for their late ‘equaliser’. On to Derby then COYR. |

My points from the game 1. Ross Stewart is starting to show what he is capable of and that will be a major boost for us if he keeps it up 2. Good that AA's miss didn't affect him after the break another big plus point him coming into form. Good to see Cameron Archer getting some time too, against a tiring defence he could be very useful. 3. Despite his error for the goal I hope Quarshie keeps his place as that defence, whilst not perfect, is a huge improvement 4. I am not wholly convinced by Roestov but let's see. 5. Charles is becoming a great player for us and Jander looks like he may be one of the buys of the season. 6. I thought Azaz and Fellows had quieter games last night. 7. Robertson is a great find but he is going to need to toughen up as too often he was pushed off the ball when he came on. A word too for the referee who I thought had a very good game, the only exception being the failure to send off the Blades player for the two footed aerial foul in the first half. Many would not have spotted the holding of McCarthy or would have bowed to the home crowds wishes. |

Oh and as an aside judging by his performances this season we should never have let Sulemana go. Just shows what he can do with a bit of support. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Middlesbrough The Verdict at 17:18:49
My takeaway is from the game for what they are worth more as follows 1. The defence looks far better with the changes that have been made in the last two games we can only hope that will still persist with these changes 2. Ross Stewart and AA look like our best starters up front, although I would keep Cameron Archer in mind to as he has proved effective in some games 3. We definitely need goalkeeping reinforcements, shame we had to let Ramsdale go. Hope the City youngster arrives and is capable. 4. As the manager and players have said we need to turn some of these games into wins soon, like Tuesday preferably. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Liverpool The Verdict at 19:59:26
Things I learnt or confirmed from the game 1. Liverpool's second goal was offside but apparently you cannot expect the officials to do their jobs at Anfield 2. We have far better options than Stephens and THB in central defence 3. Similarly we have far better options than Downs up front, I don't know what Still was thinking bringing him on rather than Stewart 4. Some of our new players look very useful, sadly not the ones our manager chooses to play in the league so far 5. We have a goalkeeping issue, is the City youngster a real possibility 6. Our team spirit is not dead if the right players start Coys but please pick the right starters Will. Bring on 'boro |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Hull City The Verdict at 09:16:54
Sorry but Stephens has to go. Our captain is just not good enough. For the first goal he lost his man and then was like a statue allowing him a tap in or rather a knee in unhndered. Sadly the poor management appears to be spreading to the women's team too and don't get me started on the Hampshire cricket at the moment. As others have said above completely unacceptable performance. |

Maybe they were doing the referee. Shea Charles challenge that led to their second goal was an excellent tackle that should not have been penalised although there was a foul earlier but that was back towards the half way line. Stephens almost gifted them a goal as usual, when will our manager learn. On the positive side I think Cameron Archer is playing very well. Would like to see him and a fully match fit Stewart together. |
 | News Comment | One In And Four Out Likely At Southampton On A Controversial Friday at 16:38:05
If Saints did not give permission WHU should be properly sanctioned for an improper approach however given the incompetence/ corruption (take your choice) of the authorities they will doubtless escape punishment. Just as Liverpool did when they poached Van Dyck. Hope we have a very good sell on clause. I am not very familiar with the incoming players but for now happy to trust in the views shared above. I thought Archer looked well up for it on Tuesday and his goal was very well taken. Would like to see him and a fully fit Stewart together. Not sure what is going on with Adam Armstrong but he has looked well off the pace recently, perhaps another fully fit ? Would love to see WHU relegated and us promoted, might then have a chance of buying back Fernandes - LOL |
