 | Forum Reply | New Players : Dont knock him until he has had a go at 13:10 3 Feb 2026
I get the point regarding Evans & Dryden, Pelle & Tadic too. However, when Carrillo arrived nobody was laughing for long, we were all soon crying! None of the above arrived with clear and obvious lifestyle issues that could potentially impact the man in the street let alone a professional sportsman. Simple research on Pelle told you he was scoring goals for fun at the time we signed him and was coming from a League from which most players seem to adapt to the English game easily. I was actually quite excited to see what Pelle could do. I was devastated when he left as he’d looked superb playing for Italy in Euro 2016 and I was really looking forward to seeing him back at St Mary’s. Larin looks like a high risk signing. As I don’t wear a hat, I will be happy to eat my words if I am wrong and Larin gets a hat trick against Watford, or anyone else for that matter! The positive is he’s only on loan so the risk is minimised in that respect but what annoys me is Piroe will still be warming the bench at Leeds and Derby got Szmodics from Ipswich last minute on loan. Be honest, is Larin better than either of those options? |

Totally agree, farcical situations like this happen at the end of every transfer window, it’s bonkers. The only explanation I can come up with is it is down, yet again, to money. Perhaps on the sellers side they think holding out will eventually panic a club desperate to buy into paying a higher price, or, from the buyers side they think holding back will eventually panic the seller into dropping the price if they are desperate to move a player on. Even so, still a ridiculous way to carry on window after window. |

Given the circumstances, perhaps the most appropriate song would be Sport Republic, f##k off out of our club [Post edited 3 Feb 0:24]

 | Forum Reply | Looks like we're stuck with Archer. at 16:05 2 Feb 2026
Spot on, a very fortunate miss. With the ‘quality’ (and I use that term loosely) of the replacements for AA and what would have been Archer if this move for the formerly crocked Croat hadn’t fallen through I am beginning to wonder if the SR muppets all got totally bladdered at the opening of the Dell Bar and are locked in to doing this for a bet. No issue with either AA or Archer moving on IF suitable standard replacements are brought in. Neither of the players linked can be described as that. |

Good riddance. Larios permanent move to Real Zaragoza also confirmed according to the BBC text service at 13.30 today. Players that never made any real impact off the payroll. €5m not a huge amount for ABK but with his future (PL level?) wages gone as well it is better than him eventually going on a free transfer with us having paid God knows how much more to him as I’d be surprised if Hellas Verona were paying 100% of his wages whilst he was on load there. | Forum Reply | New striker - Cyle Larin at 17:16 1 Feb 2026
Been reading through this thread with increasing dismay. Stopping to think for a minute, we have already shipped Downs out (no loss whatsoever), but it also looks like Archer is off to Rangers and AA is off to Wolves, so, surely this can’t be all we are getting in, can it?? OK, Larin for Downs, from what I have read above, donkey for donkey so to speak. But what about replacements for Archer and AA then? If SR don’t do something to properly replace them then IMO they are no longer fit to be running this Club, that’s if they ever were to be honest… Absolute bunch of clowns, Parsons included. |
 | Forum Reply | Adam Armstrong off to Wolves for £7 million then.... at 16:22 1 Feb 2026
Totally agree Pat, a bum deal indeed. Apparently an extra £2m in add-ons, that’s if they ever get paid, but still not enough. God only knows what we will get as a replacement given SR’s pathetic recruitment record overall. One report I read today says they have a replacement lined up that will be better suited to TE’s style of play. Have to say, a clever bit of business by Wolves. They know, as indeed we do, AA will probably be as much use as a chocolate fire guard in terms of saving their season, they are already planning for next season and have got themselves a player capable of 20 goals a season in the Championship and he will be fully integrated into the set up and available from game No.1, not signing at 9pm on deadline day at the start of September. As I have said, a clever bit of business in what will be a much stronger division next season. [Post edited 1 Feb 16:26]

We all owe the local Stoneham ‘NIMBY’ residents a huge debt of gratitude for kicking up such a fuss over the proposed new ground in the middle of nowhere. Had they not made such a fuss it is possible we would have been lumbered with a ground as far away from the centre of Southampton as Stoke and Derby combined, and probably Leicester added on top as well… |
 | Forum Reply | New striker incoming??? at 22:12 29 Jan 2026
What a pity we didn’t loan Dom Ballard to Leyton Orient instead of selling him to them for a pittance. Had we done so, as with Bree he could have been recalled having proved what a lot of us thought he was capable of, except the Gimberts running the Club of course… |
 | Forum Reply | New striker incoming??? at 15:35 29 Jan 2026
I would not trust SR to find a decent striker as far as I could bench press an elephant. The point is we need an EXTRA decent quality proven striker to supplement what we already have not to replace what we already have. If Arma goes and we are relying on SR to find a like-for-like standard replacement then we are totally 🤬ed. Totally… |

A mate of mine was waiting for a cab near Basingstoke station when someone hiding in a nearby hedge jumped him from behind and pulled him into the hedge where he passed out. When he came round he was lying on the pavement the other side of the hedge dressed in a blonde wig, huge false lashes, rouge, red lip gloss, a figure hugging red dress complete with false boobs and thigh length red boots with high heels, surrounded by police and paramedics. When he asked what had happened to him one of the police officers said “You’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards” I’ll get my coat…. 😄 [Post edited 28 Jan 17:02]

 | Forum Reply | Actual attendance tonight EXCLUDING non-attending ST holders at 21:59 21 Jan 2026
I’d say Pat was closest, don’t think I have seen so many empty seats for a league game since we were last in League 1. Of course, the published attendance will be totally inaccurate as those thousands of absent ST holders will be included in the ‘official’ figure. |
