Who speaks Welsh?
at 00:24 23 Apr 2019

I can converse in French (and obviously English) but the Welsh language was just too tough. On vacation there last summer there was a few programs in your language at the motel and try as you might, just couldn't hang with it. Strange thing I found over there, were very few people not only with Welsh accents, but actually speaking Welsh at all. I don't know, maybe things have changed from once before, you know, different generations.

I'd congratulate you on the win but somehow that just seems improper. Taking candy from a four year old is how most teams register victories over us, maybe I'm just fed up with it all as are a great many of our fanbase. Right now we're easy meat for any opposition but it's been that way all through the campaign for the most part.

Going to be tough in the third league next season and could be some time before making it back. Selling our best players was always going to backfire against us, and as for the new kids brought in, they've hardly made ANY impact between them.

Seriously it's a load of horsesh1t. Going down with a (very) embarrassing points and victory accumulation is one thing, but Norwich winning the league or just about back in the EPL only compounds the situation. God must have a very sick sense of humor when you look at it, you couldn't get two more different directions.

SO , thanks for visiting those who came over today and I'll repay the favor by making the trip back over to South Wales maybe in the not too distant future, but it won't be for any 'football' purposes. Think all at Ipswich need a big break away from the game this summer and not only that, certain people within the club set-up really need to depart.

Sad to see a once great team where we are but really it was headed this way for quite a while. Been crap for far too long, a succession of really poor managerial appointments and an owner who is basically a colossal toilet bug have seen us where we are today.

I still got an information leaflet from the vacation over there last summer. Hope to get back one day, it was impossible to take in all the sights from one trip. Recall now trying to get from the Marina to Mumbles and people on red bikes going past. Tried to hire one but you have to be a resident or something which was obviously not possible.

Never mind it was a good trip. Never actually saw the river Tawe don't believe or the old Vetch Field stadium / new Liberty, but there was so much going on elsewhere it wasn't really that much of a disappointment. South Wales has some of the best beaches I think, the main one off Oystermouth Road was immense. Say again will have to get back sometime to take in more sights. Seriously would recommend the area for others who have yet to visit. Won't ramble on, there's a game in an hour or two that's soon underway.

At least we'll have the biggest ground in the third league next season although that's not really saying much given the current plight. Shall be in attendance for the end game with Leeds, you know, a chance to say farewell to the second division on the final weekend. Not sure how many we'll bring in for today but stadium has been half-filled for most of the games we've played here since August.

Couldn't help but notice the league table and maybe you still have an outside shot at a play-off place but you'll need a victory today and wins in just about every other game you got remaining. Not to say it won't happen but as before, an outside chance.

Seems you got some players that know how to score goals, that's our main problem. Not only that the defense is often questionable and we need a number of new additions in the summer to replace the 'dead wood'. Lambert is often highly praised and doesn't always deserve the adulation it receives. Why some of our fanbase continue to give praise and encouragement is a mystery. Today you may see why.

Hope it's a good game, of course would wish to win even though anything we do now is ultimately immaterial.

Seems a long time since we played your team. I can't remember the score, the season has by now merged in to one long misery. I spend most of my time trying to forget.

So we're relegated now. First time since the 1950's, well it was always going to happen with the crap players and management and owner. Could be some time before we make it back but like me you'll remember better times in the early 1980's when both teams did well in the old first division.

I hope those traveling over have a good trip but please try not to take any more points from us, it's embarrassing enough as it is (our points total) Bit of advice, Portman Road can be tricky to get out from at full time if you're headed back west, especially with a Bank Holiday upon us. I see you got some good players that can score goals but that doesn't automatically suggest we'll hand you a win on a plate.

Many of us just want the season over, some are getting all excited about the thought of League One 'football' but I'm not looking forward to it one bit. Especially given how much time it could realistically be to make it back to the second level.

You'll remember me back from the summer when we took a trip over to your fine city. Keeping it short, you played my team today. Been a follower for around 25 years back when Craig Forrest was in goal. Registered not only for trip advisement but occasions such as today when thew two clubs would eventually meet.

Okay, I've read game reports from TWTD but missed highlights. Appears we were lucky to an extent to win today as you created more opportunity and possession but that was a game we really needed to win. I'm sorry it had to be at your own teams expense.

Some of the reaction from our fanbase seemed bizarre. I put it down to unrivaled relief at getting a first victory and winning / scoring three at a venue many thought we would be well beaten, you can hardly blame some for getting carried away but a number of fans of the club are providing plaudits left and right to the players and manager, it's almost as if the previous 11 games never occurred and one win - albeit however fortunate - brings a new dawn or sense of unrealistic belief and expectation. Paul Hurst is no savior on the back of one standout victory.

Anyway you're in a much better position to challenge than ourselves, what I mean is Swansea is a team that can realistically shoot for a promotion place in May whereas we ourselves are most likely mid-league material.

No hard feelings I hope, I accept we were perhaps fortunate in victory but by God that win needed to come from somewhere.

What happened down Abertawe way
at 16:22 21 Jul 2018

Well we had some time in your fine city and fair enough, we enjoyed our trip and hope to go back sometime in the future. However a change of hotel would seem paramount. Here's essentially what we saw and took in :

#1 The bay is outstanding. Beach is hard to walk on as no real hard sand and tide too close to the front but views are something else. Spoiled a bit by factory plants, wind turbines and industrial facilities to the west but you can see Mumbles in the other direction and took a walk towards it taking in such sights as an outdoor Lido, University and Running course with exercise utilities at certain stages.

#2 Nearly everything was written in Welsh and English. Not a problem, it was something of a nice touch, but at no point did we attempt to learn any native language. Someone on the trip over said Welsh is a very hard language to learn, I won't dispute.

#3 Visited the Rail station, thought it was a bit small for such an expansive city. No through trains, just a terminus stop. The 'ambition is critical' design is still there, it makes a certain amount of sense.

#4 Plenty of stores in the City Center, a shopping mall with it but not much in the way of different names once inside. A big screen in one part of the city showing Tennis or something or highlights of the 'Swansea Bay' program. I'd imagine it would have been some scene if they had played Wales' European Championship games a year or two ago at such a venue.

#5 Hills / Mountains in the distance that seemed inviting but possibly too hard to reach. Some of the roads were very steep, it seemed anywhere from the waterfront was on a steep incline the further you went into Town.

#6 People friendly enough, some talking in the Welsh language but not as many as thought expected when on arrival. People seem more courteous here than other places in the UK, asked for directions a number of times or place information and got satisfactory replies.

#7 People can tell when you're from elsewhere. Got asked a few times where had visited from / place of origin. One woman didn't know where Montreal was, so simply said Canada.. Still seemed a bit vague.

#8 Weather was OK, hot but not oppressive. Had a torrential rain storm early one morning but lasted a few minutes. If visiting again will probably choose later in the year, a more suitable season or month.

#9 Got woke up one morning around 3 am by some "people" returning to their hotel room. Cue bumps, loud voices, moving round and general disturbance but got off eventually.

#10 Not one mention of English soccer, or none that was evident. Made the trip that extra bit special.

#11 Cycles about that were designated to the City. Saw some on view but you need to register with a local authority to use one. Needless to say, that venture was quickly overlooked.

#12 Some design near the Oystermouth Road, a half circle or bridge thing near the beach that was an interesting model. Not sure what purpose it served but surprised to see no-one on top of it or trying out at any time.

#13 Never saw the soccer ground although was never really looking for it. The old Vetch Field stadium was believe near my hotel stay but went past a sports venue near the front a number of times, believe it was for rugby purposes or amateur level.

#14 City seemed too much to see in one visit. I'm familiar with large cities and expansive urban area but was unprepared for how big the place was, just took in what you can and keeps your eyes and ears open.

#15 The bridge that crosses between England and Wales was impressive, someone said it was a river, it looked more like an ocean. Don't think saw the actual Tawe river as was in other parts of the City during visit, it's possible it may have been sighted.

Bottom line it was a good trip. No regrets, will go back in the future. The travel time was hard, left Swansea around 12 noon on the day, got back sometime before Midnight the same day. Someone got left in Bridgend by all accounts on the way back at a rest stop as the coach wouldn't wait for missing persons. It's their policy apparently. Had to feel a bit of sympathy for whoever was involved.

Thanks for reading.

Could you spare a moment, we're coming over in short time
at 14:35 13 Jul 2018

Right let's get to it, leaving for Wales tomorrow and got a long trip from the East of England but looking forward to it and haven't been back for some 30 years.

Arrival in Swansea around early evening and accommodation arranged etc. Point being, any advice you can offer about the trip there.

I'm hoping to take in the Dylan Thomas museum, waterfront, shopping mall, Mumbles and other sights of interest but anything else to suggest.

This wasn't supposed to happen, vacation was arranged in advance because believed English would be in the World Cup Final and didn't want any part of it should they win. Chose Wales because money's a bit stretched at the moment and can't really afford more outlandish European trips.

They do use still English money in Wales don't they ? Feel like an ass asking but better to risk that than arrive tomorrow with useless currency.

It should be a good trip.

When Wales got to the semi-finals of the Euro Championships 2 years ago the media here didn't give them anything like the spotlight their progress deserved. Perhaps what you did back then was a bigger achievement than what the English just participated in, but the media here will always get carried away or lose rationality when it comes to the national squad making progress or picking up a few wins etc.

For everyone else, you CAN now enjoy the final in peace.

Sorry couldn't see an introduction thread, but I follow another Championship team and we'll be playing you again next season. Not here for any trouble, I adhere to other teams forums rules and respect others views.

Live in England although not English. The Irony is, had already booked a break in Wales for the weekend as believed England would be in it and had to get out of the country while there was still time. Usually they only get to the last 16 or group stages and it's over quickly but this year alarm bells have been ringing ever louder and for all other nationalities in this country, in the end it became a bit intolerable.

Will watch the final in Wales or maybe listen to it but looking forward to my trip over. Haven't been there since the 1980's and even then it was only over the border from around the Shrewsbury area.

Sorry to go on, but just making my intentions clear. I was pleased and relieved England went out tonight. Fair enough they played OK in spells during the tournament but received a lot of easy games and poor opposition. The media (as always) has hyped them up to a level they simply aren't accomplished at.
