I find it odd in this day and age that people seem to still think they know what a player's contract is and that salary figures quoted on any number of websites somehow have validity. |

He's just like anyone else in business and in that position.... constantly needing to mess around with things just for the sake of it and to justify their own jobs otherwise they wouldn't be needed. They always come out with how it's for the benefit of the sport (business) etc. when really it's just self serving.

Most are forgettable but I couldn't go to the Man U one so the Chelsea 3-1 back in 2001 is the best for me. The thing is, Chelsea actually did try and win and with a strong team too but just couldn't handle us. [Post edited 27 Jun 11:19]

The way the new format is giving the likes of Slovakia, Slovenia, Georgia (despite the great win against Portugal) etc. the chance to progress when they wouldn't have done if only the top 2 progressed, you could have a situation where these kind of teams just put 10 men behind the ball each game and hope to go through each round, and maybe even win the whole thing, by virtue of winning a penalty shoot out.
That's not football for me.

His over-theatrics really donโt help his cause then had a little hissy when substituted.
I get heโs a great player, passionate etc but his petulant behaviour can be embarrassing at times. |

The two things commentators say (especially in tournaments) that baffles me is that the weather during a game can affect the players and that the players are tired after a long club season.
Ummm.... that's the same for everyone, it's not exclusive to just us. |

20 min spell in the first half we were all over them. I said to my son "we need to get a second goal before half-time as no way will Mancini carry on like this 2nd half".
That was our chance. Go in 2-0 up at half time and I think we'd have won it. yeah, Italy were good and may have gone 32,498 games unbeaten but on the night they were there for the taking, especially in that first half. Trying to defend a lead for 89mins (plus added time) in a final is asking for trouble.

I like it though no idea what the trim colours are trying to represent (Notting Hill Carnival?) as they're not connected to the club that I'm aware of though I do understand if you limit all kits to only club connections that narrows the possibilities of future designs. |

I like the idea of a shield thingy.
When my son has his tournaments (ages from 7-11, he's U9 at the moment) they usually have groups of six teams.
After they play each other once, the top two go through to the 'Gold cup' knockout, the middle two go through to the 'Plate' knockout and the bottom two either go through to a 'paper mache' (I made that up) cup or are eliminated altogether depending on the host club and what resources they have to hand.
It's good because it gives everyone a chance to proceed and gain experience (or even win) in a knock-out situation.
Over the last three years, my sons team have experienced everything..... bottom two and out altogether, middle two and progression to the plate cup (got to the 1/4 finals on a couple of occasions) and just the other week they finished second in their group but went out at the next stage but it's all good experience as they're pushing to higher levels each time.
It would be nice to see the so-called minnows in International football get a chance at this. |
