Saints At Newcastle United The Verdict

Getting annoyed with all the talk about this "penalty"

1) If it was given then Fraser probably would have saved it.
2) Colback handled the ball 5 seconds before the shot
3) It was not given, stop whining Newcastle and Media

But... moving on...

Blooming FANTASTIC!!!

Krueger And Kat Kept Their Word
at 11:13:58

I agree with just about all you have wrote but what really annoyed me (and I think other fans aswell) was the silence during difficult times. Ralph did say the fans would be kept informed but it was the silence... the deafening silence!
But... although this silence hurt we have come out a stronger team. We will lose games we should win and win games we should (on paper) lose. Time will be needed to gel our players together, it took the last manager a year and Ronald seems to be starting very well with the Southampton way.
Personally, I would love it... LOVE IT if we finished above Spuds (and Liverhampton) but I think it might be a season too soon.
Our amazing journey continues... and we are in great hands

Would The Sale Of Chambers Be A Step Too Far !
at 10:38:17

I'm feeling numb... 4 definitely gone, probably another 4, possibly even more, a manager and a chairman... What the hell is going on?! We have the money (+£150M) we got 2 (good) players and a great manager in but a team needs to bond and we are running out of time.
Just 10 weeks ago I was walking around proudly wearing my shirt, now people are feeling sorry for me... people here ask what is going on... I'm just speechless.
Ralph and Les keeping quiet is not helping at all.

Four Weeks To Go
at 10:28:33

Loved the chat with the three "youngsters" on youtube, also saying "it's frightning the amount of talent coming through"
I agree that we need a two or three more players soon. Shame Caulker is looking to Harrys overpriced jokers, i thought he could fit in well with Fonte, Maya, Jos and possibly (a very small possibly) Lovren.
Has anybody found out the "injury" to keep Dejan out last night?

Looking forward to 4 weeks time!!!

I like what you say BUT....
You did say "the difference between a relegation battle and mid table safety is nothing more than luck"... I say the difference between us getting a top four and mid table was bad luck!
Decisions against us have become laughable... in fact if an opposition player hacked down Lambert in the area, head butted Lallana, spat at Cork and picked up the ball in both hands we would get a penalty... On another note... (Apart from the pathetic refs) it's been a great season!!!

Saints V Liverpool The Verdict
at 12:15:28

Liverpool are the kings at getting away with little pushes here, little dives there. How some of there guys didn't get booked was beyond me. BUT, the main difference was the same old story, we didn't have the luck or the quality in shots.
Shaw played his worst game until they scored
Lambert looks tired
Chambers was great
Cork and J- Rod worked hard
Lallana is class but loses the ball to easy when tackled
My biggest concern was taking off one of our unsung heroes when we looked like scoring and changing the system at Half-Time, why? Davis was playing well, we were on top. Then we go 2-0 down and the immediate changes... no... nothing for 20 minutes. So, although I hate to put our top manager down, he got that wrong.
Still, it has been a great season... although it could have been unbelievable with our luck and taking chances.

Saints At Fulham The Verdict
at 14:38:51

Another stat....
With Artur in goal we have conceded 11goals in 17games (plus one when injured at Chelsea)
With others in goal in all competitions 23goals in 13 games.

This isn't saying how poor Davis and Gazza are... it shows how good Artur is!

Wanyama should wait his turn like Cork had to.
Talk of playing Wanyama at centre back is rubbish, why change the winning team around to suit him?! On that note, I thought Yosh played well.
If Vic is worth 12million then Jack must be worth 15! (Swansea bid of 4.... PML!)

Also, the best thing about winning is the tv can stop going on about only winning 2 games in 10! Let's face it, we had some tough games and no Boruc!

Saints At Newcastle The Verdict

Agree with another good write up. I have been keeping an eye on Forren here and I just can't see why we didn't keep him... Do we put another bid in? Lol! But he is better than Hoover and Maya, in fact I would say he's as good as Fonte on a good day.
Take a look at our last games.... Stoke, a mistake by Artur. Hull, a mistake by Wanyama. Arsenal, a mistake by Artur and the referee. Chelsea, a lucky equalizer and Boruc injured. Villa, mistakes by Maya and Cork. Man city, any number of players should have stopped the cross. Newcastle a mistake by Hoover.... who's turn next week?
Twelve goals against of which seven or eight were avoidable. I hope things even themselves out as we are not getting too much luck.
BUT.... What a team we have and eight English players involved yesterday. I hope I see the day when we play an all English team and give everyone a "helllll of a beating!!!"

Time To Back Gazzaniga
at 12:46:20

I like this article, the only bit I don't agree with is the defence "falling to bits in front of him", Chelzki were better in the second half and I feel the defenders looked a lot more confident when Boruc was behind them . They felt panic when Gazza was in goal trying to protect the little lamb.
But, as you may see in the DE website, I wished him to be a hero... it wasn't to be but maybe on Wednesday.
Hopefully our strikers can kill off the game early and help get a clean sheet for his confidence.
As I said at the start, I like this article... if I could be there to support ALL the players then I would be. Maybe you will hear me in Norway?

It could be another reason like that, I just want us to get more positive results against "lower" teams. We were unlucky against West Hoof and it annoys me to see Sunderlands only point was off us. The brilliant result at Anfield will mean even more if we stuff Holloways team.

Saints At Liverpool The Verdict

To me there seems to be two different types of play in the Premiership, the fighters and the players. We struggle against lower teams as these are the fighters but we play well against the Players. This showed last year by beating or playing well against the players from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Everton but losing or poor results verses the fighters from QPR, Sunderland, Wigan, West Ham, etc

We need to find two game plans and then our teams dreams could come true. We need to give Holloway a good beating after he slagged us off when we beat his Blackpool singing "premier league ya having a laugh!"

Good article again. I had just one slight disappointment and it was mentioned before. Wanyama is giving the ball away too easy. His first couple of games looked great but he has been our weakest link the last two games. Cork should have a start v Palace.
That little moan aside, what a great weekend, these are the days that make memories. there are thousands of Liverpool supporters here and I have proudly wore my Saints shirt.... I did also enjoy picking up my £60 bet on a Saints win :-)

Player Review 12/13 - Vegard Forren
at 22:27:53

Right.... I am as puzzled as anyone.
This guy was playing amazing football for Molde and was voted player of the year here, so when we snatched him from Liverpool I was very happy.
The Norwegian press are also puzzled and now he's dropped from the national squad.
He scores goals! He defends so calmly! Perfect timed challenges!
I know the other three played ok but two questions... why did we buy this world class (yes, World class) player to play under-21s? Who got him... NA didn't meet him and Forren said he never met MoPo?
And on another note, anyone else think Billy Sharp could have scored more than J-Rod?

Well, I hope we see Forren soon, he was class here

Time To Throw In Forren !
at 11:46:13

Though I would add my pennies to this thread as I know Forrens game well.

We have purchased a diamond! He is a class LEFT sided defender who is very natural on the ball, tackles well, can head it... and WILL score goals!

Voted player of the year here and has to be worth a start. He probably will make a nervous start but most defenders do, hoover and fonte were shocking in the first few weeks as was Maya (mistake against Swansea) but give him a go MoPo!!

He will be our best defender for years to come.
