I’ve seen this along with some idiot on one of the QPR Facebook groups proclaiming Paul Smyth is one of the worst players to play for us I’m nailing my colours to I like Paul Smyth Is he the best player I’ve ever seen at Loftus Road , no not by a long way. He does however play with guts, spirit and a desire to do well, should he score more goals, probably, is he final ball at bit disappointing, it can be. But he would run through brick walls for the club and I for one appreciate that when I think back to others who have rinsed the club and couldn’t care less When I approached the club for a birthday message for my lad Smyth did it and sent a great message which made a 9 year olds birthday his mate who is the other QPR fan out of 500 odd kids at school was extremely jealous! Also on a non football angle the fella is pretty funny He was at the kids fanzone yesterday signing autographs etc. They did a Q&A with him and one question was “What’s your career highlight “ his response was “The right hander on Friday” 😂 He then said he was joking in case anyone wants to get offended Paul Smyth -Top man [Post edited 22 Apr 13:07]

I think him being at Barnet and us not picking him up can be excused to a point as he only played maybe a handful of games but his time at Peterborough should definitely not have gone unnoticed He had 4 years there with a season in The Championship was playing Junior England levels and I think even Captained them at times and pretty sure was in team of the year for League one Maybe we did inquire who knows £3 mill was a bargain for Southampton |

Let’s be honest nobody would have guessed that line up I get we have many injuries but Christ on a bike I like Marti but that line up but that has the look of when he was sat at his desk writing it he had a glass of Cyanide to the left and a revolver to the right Gonna be a long night I fear |

As much as I hate them (and believe me I do) the problem are the rules Sales of such things should have to be passed through the Premier League or an independent body the rules are what is causing this. Forest and also Stoke plus many others have done this sort of thing and will do until it is stamped out Don’t hate the player hate the game |

Football has changed massively but the principles remain the same Take Rangers late 80’s for example look at the players we bought in Ferdinand young very green from Hayes but worth a punt Sinton was about 23/4 when he joined done well lower down the leagues Wilkins, amazing career but to many was washed up stayed for 5/6 seasons and was superb Sansom short term was here two years similar to Wilkins was washed up but was great Parker good young player nicked off local rival in lower divisions All contributed and either gave good service or were moved on I could pick pretty much any Rangers side over that 30 year period and give other examples. Yeah sure there were some duff signings but on the whole the recruitment and ethos got us to London top side in the 1st premier league and not far off Europe , FA Cup Quarter Finals etc We’ve been in foreign ownership for best part of 20 years, football is a rich man’s / Country / State game now but the principles apply Look at Bournemouth. Kerkez the left back arguably one of the best in the Prem picked up for not huge money has many admirers, Kluivert Semenyo etc The other clubs I mention have similar examples Bournemouth right now are QPR of 35 years ago why wouldn’t we want to be the new Bournemouth |

Looking to go to the Swansea game on Easter Monday Some mates are going in The Loft End and a couple are in ER After the match can you get round to the Loft End from Ellersille Road without leaving the ground, years ago I seem to remember you could but I haven’t been in ER for a while Any help appreciated Cheers |

💯 agree If / when we get promoted we should be looking to emulate clubs like Brentford, Fulham, Palace, Bournemouth , Brighton , Forest etc. They all took the blue print of QPR 1967- 1996. Buy young hungry players, turn a profit on some and then rinse repeat. Cup runs, European football regularly mixing it with the big boys and if a few bad seasons happen stick with it. Appoint good managers etc The recent Prem years weren’t the best but their were some great moments beating Chelsea 1-0, the 5 wins on the bounce at home to stay up including Liverpool Arsenal and Spurs That’s the QPR I fell in Love with and that’s the QPR I want us to be again |

He looked absolute mustard when broke into the first team. Really exciting and he had the ability to go a long way Unfortunately he threw it all away |
 | Forum Reply | Abuse in modern football at 10:08 28 Jan 2025
I think part of it, as others have said is the instant wants of society Look at West Ham got rid of Moyes once as they didn’t quite like it, got in shiny Pellegrini he failed. Got Moyes back he wins them their 1st European trophy in 60 odd years and they then get rid to bring in the ex Wolves Manager as he’d managed a couple of big clubs I think Managers and players have always taken adulation/ stick from football fans since the day the game started Remember Furlong getting pelters at Rangers early on but coming through it to become a cult hero. The difference was all the abuse then stayed at the ground really he could get home to his family shut the door and get a break from it. Nowadays with all the social media it’s 24/7 365. I’ve always felt you shouldn’t post anything that you wouldn’t be happy to say to someone face to face. Most of these people who message this type of stuff would be the first ones to want a selfie / autograph of the person they’re having a go at. It’s a sad state of affairs in all honesty |

Our eldest is Year 6 and got a mobile for her birthday in November. Tesco mobile job not an IPhone but good for calls texts and WhatsApp She has started walking to school with a friend of hers (about ten mins away) and the phone has a tracker app on it and she has to call or message me or the Mrs when she gets to school Not allowed Snapchat Insta Facebook or Twitter Youngest is Year 5 and turns 10 in the summer so he will get the same then Phone has to stay down in the kitchen on charge at night and we have her password (Mrs might have a quick look once a week or so but obviously there is privacy to be respected) Technology is here to stay so trying to give them some responsibility is a good thing if they mess it up then it’ll get drawn back Similarly my lad has a PS5 he’s allowed to live chat while playing but only with friends from school / football team etc but not allowed to add anyone he or we don’t know It’s a tough call and I think very much depends on the kid as an individual some are more wise than others Mate if mine won’t let his kids do any of the above and they are the same age. Not sure who is right or wrong but there comes a time when you have to let go a bit I think Set the ground rules and expectations, if they don’t do as asked it gets revoked Most kids are pretty sensible but also need a bit of a watch just as a bit of help I think as it is all new and they can get carried away as we all did as kids |

We’ve been here before when a Manager starts doing weird things with the bench Redknapp Holloway and Warburton all did similar It’s not a great look and as others have said there must be a youngster from the Development squad or even the Under18’s who could sit on the bench get some Match Day experience if nothing else Not good |

So I know right now thing are pretty grim and for us who have been for many years we can dissect the performances of individuals and lament certain things but I was sat there last night thinking it wasn’t all bad and there’s lots of us to be proud of and here’s why. So as the kick offs have been messed about so much this was the first game we could get to this season so myself brother and stepdad were all planning to go along with my 9 year old and my 7 year old nephew who has been a few times. Then my sister said she’d attend her first game in nearly 25 years to have a day out with her boy. Finally my lads best mate whose family are West Ham was also added he has been to a few games before at Southend once at England and got taken to his first West Ham game v Ipswich a few weeks ago. He’s been a bit upset due to some kids at school and his Mum asked if we would take him too. So we arrived around 1:30pm at White City into glorious sunshine and made our way to The Springbok (I know it’s the Queens Tavern now but it’ll always be The Springbok to me) Had a drink £8 for a Madri!!! Anyway we then took the boys to the football bit on South Af road as PBlock Junior and my nephew always do that and the wanted to show the other lad. As we get there Jonathan Varane was signing autographs and posing for pics which they duly had and then they were playing on some of the skills circuits they put on. The 3 of them were doing football tennis when a couple of the development squad lads joined in Alex Aroha and Harry Murphy. Both were brilliant with the boys and for kids of 8/9 to be able to have a kick about with Professional Footballers is something a fan of Man United Chelsea etc can only dream of but they got to do it. After this we went in the ground in the Lower Loft for the match and they all loved Dembele and his goal they all loved Michy as he is a beast and Saito because he’s really fast and tricky They were disappointed to lose but we hung about for a beer in the blue and white after and waited for the crowds to disappear before going round to try and catch some players for autographs and pics They managed to get loads and got signatures on their shirts and in their autograph books. All of the players were great with them and happily posed for pics etc we done this a few times as this is what my lad and Nephew love meeting them only ever been blanked by one player Leon Balogun I’m looking at you! PBlock Junior managed to get Ilias to sign his 10 Chair shirt which he was delighted with. I think they met Walsh Madsen Bennie, Celar, Chair Dunne Fox Cook Saito Frey Santos special mention to Paul Nardi who was holding his young baby and then passed the baby over to a family member so he could sign and have a picture After this it was back to Liverpool St for McDonalds and on the C2C train back to Leigh on Sea My wife picked me Junior and his mate up and took him back to his as my eldest was hanging out there after the girls had done their girlie day. His Mum said she had never seen him so happy after a football match and asked him what was better. His reply was that it was the best one because you were so close to the players and the noise was better and he got to play with professionals and meet real footballers etc etc So while us older fans may say yesterday was sh!t and as a club we are doing lots wrong the club are also doing a lot right, and 3 young lads from Essex had the best day and in a few years they won’t remember the result but they will remember the memories His Mum text my Mrs this morning saying he’s asking when he can go again Keep the faith all COYR’s |
