Who's decision would it have been to have given Stephens the 3-year contract extension?
It wouldn't have been Will Still, he had hardly been at the club.
Spors had been there plenty long enough to have worked out whether Stephens was a bad egg. Not to mention a lamentably bad centre-half. |

I wouldn't disagree; Warnock knows this League.
He told Gary Rowett to get Oxford to sign their decent CB Helik in the summer, and said to him that he would keep them up.
OK, they may well still go down, but Helik has been good for them, and is exactly the sort of player we should have been in for in the summer. |

Re Cameron Bragg, Alfie House stated in a follow-up post on the same thread on X that he would definitely keep Bragg, and it was a mistake for him to have omitted him from his original "Keep" list.
If the Club have indeed briefed Alfie House, this is yet another egg on face moment for Johannes Spors, whose position is fast becoming untenable.
Many will remember his impassioned speaking up on behalf of Jack Stephens at the last Fans' Forum, when the issue of his ludicrous 3-year contract extension was raised.
It looks like we are going to have to try and limp on to the end of this season, and avoid both a defeat at Fratton and a relegation battle.
But it could take us two years or more to clear up all this mess. [Post edited 6 Jan 11:10]

He’s very open on the Total Saints Podcast about players who aren’t good enough.
Bazunu and Archer are regularly named by him in this category.
It seems clear that the likes of Stephens, Downes, Harwood-Bellis and Manning are at the heart of the culture problem. |
