I remember it from the Coventry and Colchester games but couldn't remember if it had been used in the first two rounds or not - I thought not but couldn't be certain. I do remember it being very similar to the Arsenal 'cup' kit! |

I had the yellow shirt (with blue collar and filled in 'V') and blue shorts as a replica kit when I was a kid. I always called it the 'cup kit' - and I'm sure that was how it was considered at the time. |

I was there - it was actually the first time that I'd seen them lose! I still do try to get to a few games a season - but I'm an exile and so I generally see more away games than home ones.

Well I went for 54 from 24 - so I'm more than happy to see 55 from 23. The competition though has also maintained momentum. 55 from 23 is a good haul - one more than Notts County had at this stage - but for them it wasn't enough to hold off Wrexham - even though County finished with 107. Wrexham's second half of the season was massive - over 60 points from their last 24 games.
I predict that somewhere between 106 and 112 will be needed - and 112 is a lot (57 from 23 is a big big ask - Chesterfield's first 23 games brought over 60 points in their winning season - but over 55 points in a very competitive league is huge. We have done fantastically well.
The next 12 games are likely our toughest challenge - simply because they are so compacted into a very short period. If we come out of the next 12 games with 27 points then I think that we are set to win. Others will have good runs too, but they will also drop points. We cannot control what others do. I just want to see us 4 points clear before we host York. |

On Christmas Day last year both York and Barnet had 48 points from 23 games. FGR were 3rd on 46 but only 22 games. Barnet's second half of the season was therefore better than their first 23 by 6 points. York were remarkably consistent - with 48 points from both sets of 23 games. I think that this year's winners will need a big haul - in excess of the 102 from last year. If we can get past the next 12 games and only drop point in 4 then we will likely be top at Christmas are well placed to win the league. I'm daring to think this way - we are top, with games in hand, we shouldn't be thinking of playoffs. So I'm thinking 54 points from 24 - but I think we may need 106 to win. With 3/4 of the games still to be played though there are a lot of unknowns can come and bite. If we continue to believe though, don't get hit by injuries / recalls and have the weather be kind to us I do think that we can do this. |

I got mine. I was surprised as I hadn't received renewal invite and so when I opened the mail that was what I was expecting. What I actually received was a 'lapsed member letter'' . If that was the 'renewal invite' then it was a very poor way of reminding me! Had I received it a week ago I would have just paid up. Now I'm wondering whether to or not. |

It will indeed be interesting - this guy is no mug, I have a friend who used to work with him and rates him highly. First he has to build a team - and then he has to get them to play for him. It's not going to be easy. But although this may appear as left-field he is no random pick.
I do think that NL has screwed this up though - it does appear to give a very unfair advantage to those teams playing them early in the season. Having said that, I'd rather see Morecambe survive and there be a little imbalance in the league than to see Morecambe fold. |

My take on this that it is an early step on the way to fulfilling 'Project 5000'. If we look at it that way then 2500 new fans are 'yet-to-be-represented'. The more representation there is on this board, the more the segments can be analysed. It could become a board with significant numbers involved but it will result in direction falling from it. |

I don't know which numbers Andy Woodman is looking at. He's been there since 2021 and yes - that part ois true - in 2021 the average home gate was 900 - but it was Covid -affected reported figures. The season before's average gate was 0ver 2000 and the season after (AW's first full season) it was down at 1900. Today it's around 3500.

I can believe that they have 2000-2500 season card holders - and I can also believe that if they make 3000 tickets available to home fans then they can sell them all (on Saturdays). This is not selling out 5000 every week though.

...and the conversion of that money into shares gives SG a 20%+ position in the Boardroom. It also makes it very difficult for the Trust (or another form of Supporter body) to slowly buy him out. I mention this latter point because it is one of the differences between us and York. The "Trust" at York has a 25% share ownership position. Judd referenced York in an earlier thread with reference to how their Golden Share works. York has incorporated the key points of a Golden Share into its Memorandum and Articles - but it actually goes further than that - it incorporates other elements throughout the M&A that gives the Trust significant say. Note that what I am not doing here is comparing our majority owners to that of the family controlling York. I do think though that if we want a 'trust' position to work then it probably requires all non Ogden family shares transferring to it. I'd be happy transfer mine if the Articles of such a Trust were sound - but it's easy for me to say that as I don't hold half a million plus shares. It would be a way forwards though.

One important factor going forwards is the 'Golden Share' - both what it actually looks like and how it will be used. My understanding is that this Share will be held by the trust and therefore it is imperative that any AGM agenda item where the Golden Share input is relevant must be circulated well before the the actual RAFC AGM itself. I am a little concerned that a limited agenda AGM is being held prior to the full revision of the Articles having been circulated but I also accept that, with the exception of the Golden Share, actual non Ogden family shares count for very little. I fully share the views put forwards in Dalenet's above post - and am happy with the fact that cake exists - I don't have to eat it! |

I'd take Bolton away. Their home form is poor and 50% of a 20,000 gate is worth having. Ideally of course I'd take two winnable home games and then a big one in the third round. But Birmingham, Bolton or 'Uddy away would be money in the bank (and I do think that Bolton is a winnable one). |

For any exiles intending to go north via the A1 there are serious road works just south of the M62 junction. These are unpredictable (usually no less than 30 mins) and it's better instead to take the M18 and then via Drax to the A19 - joining the A64 at the A19 intersection. If you are going by car (by whatever route) then there are reservable car park spaces available at the Monks Cross Retail Park which is a short wall from the stadium. There are only 400 reservable spaces in total but there was availability earlier today when I purchased match tickets. Away fans tickets were still available this morning on the YCFC web site and car parking (£5) can be bought at the same time.
The McArthur Glen Retail Park at the A64/A19 intersection has a decent food court (not great - but better than a motorway services) - and parking is free. It isn't feasible to use McArthur Glen for the stadium though - it really has to be Monks Cross for that. I mention it only because you have to drive past McArthur Glen on the A 64 to get to Monks Cross and so it's worth stopping there for food if needed.
The M1/A1 delays (between M62 and A1/A64 can also be a pain - but often cleared within 15-20 mins. |

I agree - interesting model. It would appear to me that they issue a share offer and the Jabara Family have, very the last few years, picked them all up. They now own almost 40% of LCFC's parent - and my guess is that they can only have done this by picking up virtually all the shares that are made available. How long that this can continue is debatable and just looks like the type of EFL1 model which is based on a gamble on promotion to the Championship. They could make the playoffs this year - but that is a strong playoff group and coming out on top over Bolton, Peterborough and Barnsley is one heck of a gamble.My worry would be that this year could be their best chance. I do think that a couple of thousand on their average gate comes from (a) them doing well and (b) some teams with strong away support where a midlands trip isn't an onerous one. I'm not so sure that it is based on their not being much else around. Whilst this is true, Lincoln isn't a populous city (100k or so) and the county is very spread out. They do have Newark close by but I see a lot of Newark base going to the Nottingham clubs. I live just outside Newark. Lincoln do market themselves well - I often see young kids with imps shirts. Lincoln is also a stag party venue - and I do suspect that they sell game packages to groups.
Boston United's model is also an interesting one, and should we be successful in closing out the Ogden Family deal then it is one worth looking closely at. The investors are in (local) property. They have built a community hub type of stadium. It's small (5-6,000) but it has lots of add ons that bring money in. The investors have stated a long term interest in returning Boston to the fans. Boston's home gate is maybe 1100 -1200 below ours but with success this could easily rise to 1800-2000. They have also got a chance of making the playoffs. They may not make it this year but I suspect that we'll see Boston in the NL before we see Lincoln in the Championship. |
