Ralph Reveals That Takeover Talks For Southampton Are Ongoing

Interesting reading - I've often wondered why Kat hasn't bought Gao out, Afterall, she can afford it, "has the best interests of the club at heart" and already owns 20%!!

Ings Set For New Deal, But With Clauses
at 21:21:21

He might just like being one of 3 'dyed in the wood' Saints supporting players playing for their boyhood club, and like the adulation which comes from that once we get fans back in the stadium. We can always wish we keep hold of a fully fit & firing Danny Ings to the end of his career!!!

Saints Announce Some Season Ticket Reductions But Fall Far Short Of Expectations

ootball club (don't know why that post was interrupted), are only accepting the higher rate of PIP and not both levels. This will prevent a lot of disabled from attending. Keep up the pressure Nick.

Saints Announce Some Season Ticket Reductions But Fall Far Short Of Expectations
at 14:19:34

Herein lies the problem - people are not willing, or are afraid to complain about season ticket prices in case there's a backlash. Well done Nick for speaking up. I happen to agree with your views and will add this:

The disabled prices have remained the same for renewals and concessions despite the assault on PIP, Universal Credit and most welfare benefit reductions. They will price disabled out of football all together especially as Southampton F

Saints Finding That Money And Status Still Matter In Football
at 11:36:19

Good analysis Nick.

My thoughts would be how long can you continue to bang your head against a brick wall trying to achieve Champions League for instance, before a. the hierarchy changes and so does the ambition or b. until you just realise it's not possible until you start ripping the fans off or increasing world profiles and paying exorbitant wages to these players?

If we are to lose Clyne, Schneiderlin and Alderweireld from last seasons very capable, sometimes lucky squad, how long can we keep losing class players like this before the inevitable happens? We can't keep doing it. There will come a time we'll get found out.

Your point about a super league. The leagues all over the world suffer the same problem. It's always the top 6, top 4, top 3 who are always winning, always there for one reason or another - the super league will be the same. There will be a couple of clubs at the top who are always there through money, sometimes ability, so nothing changes apart from the fact that more clubs will fail because of trying to keep up with the joneses.

Can Sam Gallagher Be The Next Saints Striking Sensation.
at 10:09:27

Sam Gallagher has had 2 bad injuries which have set him back but maybe the one thing that set him back more than the injuries, was the sudden loss of his father.

For a lade of that age, to lose his father would have been, and was, devastating. It would take some time to at least get back on with life. I think he handled it beautifully and you may be right. Maybe he is now back to his best or better.

He was played out of position on Monday too, down the right and drifting in occasionally until Martin Hunter put Josh Sims on. It was then that he went into the middle more and where he finally got his goal. He's a lad who needs confidence but doesn't seem that confident right now.

I'm not sure he'll be another Harry Kane though, nice as the thought might be.

Very good, accurate, article Nick. The BIG questions for this summer though are 1. Which players will be tempted away by the BIG clubs. 2. Will Pochetinno sign a BIG fat new contract and finally, but possibly more importantly, will KL provide the necessary injection of cash to take us to Valhalla??:-)

Why Is Billy Sharp Persona Non Grata At St Mary's ?
at 10:57:01

There has to be a reason why he can't get into the Saints squad and I don't think it's on ability. He certainly has that. Perhaps it is his attitude as mentioned above? I don't know him either but he can be outspoken as his twitter account will testify.

As for Mayuka from what I've seen Nick you are correct in your assessments of him. He seems to have pace but not a lot else and as you say, may be one for the future but we have Ryan Seagar and Jake Sinclair coming through who could be every bit as good when they are his age. It's a strange one that's for sure.

Player Review 12/13 - Billy Sharp
at 11:10:44

Billy Sharp did not like it here in the South of England; spoke with the club who presumably as you say, could not guarantee him game time, and he said that 'from what he heard the best move was away from the club' and off he went oop north, a place he loves. He certainly is better than what we've seen from Mayuka who I think will be gone this transfer window.

I don't think we'll ever know what went down in Billy's talks with SFC but we should remember his goals and especially the Pompey one.

Saints V Manchester City The Verdict
at 12:22:22

There wasn't a Saints player who didn't play his heart out yesterday. Schneirderlin was winning everything and breaking up play as was Cork. As you rightly say, Steven Davis was excellent too. Rickie Lambert? So calm in possession of the ball and picked out some great passes. Yoshida was huge and I think had his best game as did Jos. All in a all a great team display. We hunted as a pack and bought our quarry down.

Why Nicola Cortese Is Our Best Bet
at 20:39:47

Firstly, it's MARKUS. Markus Liebherr.

Secondly, all the above, and wasted column inches in the Echo and the UI, is exactly why the club should issue a very carefully worded statement in order to quash the rumours which are very damaging to all at Southampton Football Club.

Saints At Manchester City The Verdict
at 12:19:19

Loved the positive report Nick, and Patred, summed up exactly how I felt yesterday - proud in defeat!

Brilliant performance from the lads yesterday. Adkins got his tactics spot on. Some if's and buts during the game like IF someone had shouted to Foxy to let that header go over his head and out; what if offside had been given against Tevez? What if . . . .; Puncheon and Lallana could have scored.

James Ward-Prowse is going to be a very classy player and will play for England.

Fonte and Hooiveld seemed to gel well yesterday. Can they play every game like that? Doubtful. But, my worry would be can we get a new CB in who will gel straight away or will mistakes in communication cost us points.

Have to admit I had tears in my eyes when Rickie scored! F'ckin' fairy tale for a really nice guy who has worked so hard to get where he is. More or less ensured his status as a Saints legend (debate?) Certainly Matt Le Tissier rates him as such.

Well done Saints - lets build on it.

Not Time To Panic On Transfer Front
at 12:22:38

My worry with this is with NC's past history in the transfer market. I remember reading a Tweet where a football agent said that Saints were 'difficult to deal with'. Along with NC's 'negotiating skills' perhaps we are being difficult to deal with. Perhaps agents do hide away when they know we're sniffing around. Perhaps potential targets are warned off because of wages structure.

We're new in this market; NA has little experience at PL level. Past examples, Gorks, show we can be difficult and perhaps even pedantic and maybe, just maybe, this is why we appear to be missing out on, publicly rumoured anyway, targets. If you look at the GK's who we3re available, now most of them have moved, signed contracts.

It's a difficult one but my confidence in getting top class players is waning. Nice article though Nick.

I'm interested in this unheard of guy Stephen Avis! When did we sign him then?:-)

I'm not fussed with Zaha. He's easily wound up and once he's lost his calm he goes to pieces. Lost it against West Ham and us. Yes, he's pacy but . . . Oh well, we'll see what transpires!
