Nice article, though IMO it's a lot easier for a 'players head to turn' at southampton than the vast majority of other football clubs. A precedent has been set by our hierarchy for years now.. lallana, lovren, wanyama fonte etc are 100% not world class and theres a strong argument for them being just shy of top class..its just the way our club is run now (post ML); we are a family club who will never make ruthless decisions. The amount of football Stepthens and Yosh have been given last 18 months or so suggest they are going nowthere even if a 'better' footballer is available or even in the ranks (Wesley)..i've prepared myself for a quiet day..its 30 days into the window, spartak have set 30mil from day one, very honestly and publicly.. 3 weeks later we offer 25 (rejected straight away) 12 hours on - no activity.. 12 hours or so to go..still fingers crossed though |

Good article.. On each of those occasions wanyama etc we had already sold 2/3/4 players from our first 11 or first 18. Our current administration cares more about the books than football. Credit where its due, when they sell its on saints terms, when they don't sell its on saints terms. In my opinion that's just a smokescreen because fans who care about football not money will kick off. If it wasn't for that reason and that reason only, wanyama etc would not have been told to stay another season. |

The longer time goes on the more I begin to believe that there is something going on in the background that we have no idea about and can just keep guessing every week. Puel has not made next to no rotations at Leicester, actually attempting to play football which they didn't even do when they won the league (averaging 35% possession or something ridiculous) against City, United and teams away from home over 45/50% of the ball.
I believe a wider agenda is happening at Southampton, perhaps stubbornesss thinking the youths are still on the same calibre as lallana etc but the reality is they are not, I like MP, I can't think what anyone can do in or out of football to lose so much respect in such a short space of time. I can understand it to a degree, just by watching 30 mins of a competitive match anyone with half a football eye can see hoedt lemina gabbi are that cut above which is obviously more evident in training. The players themselves know that, which could be causing this unbalance. For me that's not MP, it wasn't Puel before he joined saints and it's not puel after. MP wasn't like that before us, if he is sacked I can bet anything he won't be like that at his new club. Just a guess of course |

The point I was trying to make is only in reference to people blaming the forwards, the way I'm reading certain comments suggests we have so many layers and dimensions and are creating a vast array of different opportunities and they are being squandered.. If that is true, our transfer window has been worse than barca, chelsea arsenal. It's an easy fix if that's true, one new centre forward job done. Expect we have bought in a holding midfielder a centre back and have successfully reintegrated another centre back. Which suggests what I just said is 100% not true. And these additions should now add those extra layers and dimensions to our play. COYR |

Luffy because Southampton reported Liverpool early. They asked him to kick off in hope saints would put him on the market, then Liverpool would have made an offer. As for other clubs, it's just the way modern transfers are conducted. Eg the reps of arsenal will contact vvd reps and enquire, the word allllll summer was no sale. Respectful clubs respect that. @redandwhitedee that is A way of running a football club not the ONLY way, there are in excess of millions of football clubs around the club that have less commercial and ticket income than saintsfc. They don't have a constant revolving door. The owners have even stated they want to reduce that. |
