Totally agree. Only one party to blame here and that is our club leadership who sanctioned the deal. Yes, he is an utter waste of space, but no-one forced the club to take him on.

Why Ferdinand and Hoos needed to leave the club.

Which is EXACTLY Southgate's raison d'etre.

Pss Poor Negative manager.

Many say solid teams win games. Get a solid base and let the flair players play. Maybe our base is not solid enough.

He'll stumble into the Quarters, come across one of the Big Boys and will go out. England just as predictable as QPR really...

Potential update on Illias Chair...
at 06:54 20 Jun 2024

Those of you bleating on about how he holds on to the ball too much or whatever reason you constantly find out to criticism will see what we are without him.
High energy, rarely injured, hungry for the ball at ALL times, willing to cover defensively, retains and recycles ball possession effectively and has made this team tick for the last three years.

Personally, I hope we get money from other sales and persuade him to stay for a few more years, pay him a little more as the team really needs to be built around him.

Unfortunately I know that might not be realistic, but more than Willock, Clarke-Salter and even Cook, Chair is clearly our main man even if he constantly gets over looked for the PoTS awards...

Full translated article - summary: don't get too attached...

The facts took place in the summer of 2020, after a kayaking trip on the Semois that started in the Ardennes and ended in Bazeilles, France. A family from East Flanders arrived at the end of a long journey. There were buses ready to take the tired and hungry tourists back to the starting point. While queuing, a commotion arose between the East Flemish people and the family of professional footballer Ilias Chair, starting player at Queens Park Rangers and thirteen-time Moroccan international, who played the consolation final at the 2022 World Cup. There was shouting back and forth, hitting, scratching and pushing and during the confrontation Chair grabbed a large stone with which he hit Niels T.'s head.

The consequences were dramatic, victim T. suffered a skull fracture of 2 centimeters and was in hospital for a while. Because the French Gendarmerie had shown little initiative to get started with the brawl, T. and his family filed a complaint in Belgium. This led to a lawsuit in Antwerp against Ilias Chair at the beginning of this year, who then denied through his lawyer that he was the man who hit the stone. He was sentenced to two years in prison, half of which was suspended. His sister-in-law and a family member also received suspended prison sentences.

New lawyers
The case was heard on appeal on Wednesday, and this time the professional footballer was present. The sister-in-law and the relative also came to the appeals court. The defendants and their (new) lawyers said that they had been poorly advised in the first instance by their then joint lawyer. โ€œHe said that everything would be fine, that I did not have to come to Belgium for the trial. I realized too late that I was being given bad advice.โ€ With his new lawyer, master Frank Scheerlinck, Chair changed course and no longer denies being the man who delivered the blow with the stone. In the meantime, he also paid all compensation to the victims, a total of just over 20,000 euros.

โ€œI don't recognize myself in this story. I have never been violent or exposed to violence in my life. I was not raised that way,โ€ Chair read a written statement. โ€œThis dates from four years ago. I was 22 and it was corona times. In the meantime I got married and had a son. I have grown enormously and am aware of my role model. I have to try to always be the best version of myself, for my son, but also for children and young adults worldwide. I will do my best every day to correct this. I would like to apologize again and apologize to the victim.โ€

Impact of conviction
Lawyer Frank Scheerlinck outlined the impact of the conviction by the criminal court in February. โ€œAll hell broke loose and the tabloids in England made it horrible. He had to run from paparazzi and a photo of his wife in a hospital bed was even published.โ€ Scheerlinck asked the court to give Chair a community service order. โ€œHe lives in London, but often comes to Antwerp to visit his family. He will therefore carry out that community service order. My client is at a turning point in his career. He hopes to secure a transfer to a club in the Premier League. That is not possible with a prison sentence or an ankle bracelet.โ€

Attorney General Ken Witpas had already taken a more lenient stance in his criminal proceedings than the public prosecutor's office at first instance. โ€œI don't have the impression that the defendants are the most aggressive by nature,โ€ he said. For Ilias Chair, the prosecutor believes a suspension (guilty without punishment) is too lenient and requested a community service order of 200 hours. The prosecutor requested 50 hours of community service for the sister-in-law and the family member, both involved in the fight, but does not oppose the suspension requested by their lawyers Joris Van Cauter and Mathias De Daele. The court of appeal will deliver its ruling on July 17.

That is the logical and scientific way of proving a theory - postulate it (Southgate is a boring and negative manager) then observe and test that theory (two defensive midfielders, then sitting back on a precarious 1-0 lead, Mainoo on for Bellingham to make it THREE deep sitting midfielders for the last five minutes).

Nothing seen yet to disprove that theory.

Play like we did in the opening 10, that is a 2 or 3 goal win. Yes, it's the groups and yes we won our first game; all commendable, but a better team will punish us and he can't play any other way.

Flat track bullies.

Survive by sh**housing against the lesser teams, then crumble after going 1-0 up against the big boys.

Its England; its what we do!

Disagree on Bellingham. Ten times the temperament than Beckham or Rooney had. Knows when the reel it in and to handle being kicked. Did nothing wrong when chest pumping that Serbian - no raised hands, no violent conduct.

The one shining light out there tonight. I am a big fan of both Kane and Rice, but both were really, really poor tonight. Guehi had a good first half but suffered in the second when he was put under pressure. Trippier and Walker OK, TTA poor aside from a couple of quality passes. Foden anonymous, Saka started well but faded badly. Special shout out to Pickford - I think he is an underrated 'keeper and was excellent when called on today.

Boring Southgate though - yes, its important not to lose your first game, but 1-0 up against Serbia and to finish the game with Rice, Mainoo and Gallagher sitting in, inviting pressure was poor. As Marti says, you need to go for that second to kill the game - not doing so has caught Southgate out on more than one occasion in his time as England Manager.

Got to keep reminding ourselves that the team that starts well rarely wins major tournaments and we need to do a hell of a lot of growing into this one from that start...

Well its nearly 1800 now, so why the hell have we not got a striker in? Probably because Marti has left and is taking Dougie Howser with him and the owners too. Can't think of any other reason, can you?

He HAS to go on loan. Just like Sinclair should have last season. Without a doubt that model is the right one for kids like this and it is an utter travesty and a dereliction of our previous regime's duty that they HAD to stay around as there was no-one else.

He will not be a regular this season and is not ready for the rough and tumble of the Championship. If he is as good as many of you seem to think that he is, it is to a L1 club; I think L2 will be his level. If he is pulling up trees, a break in January should be included, but I see him staying out for the season.

This HAS to be the model for our kids.

I keep things really simple - if he wants to be here and we want him here brilliant. If he doesn't (and not signing a contract means that is the case) then cheerio, don't let the door slam you on the ass on the way out.

Harsh? Maybe, but whoever they are, if they do not want to be here and think that they can do better, let them go and in Armstrong's case, if we can get money for him, we should.

If he won't sign a long term deal, sell for whatever we can get. Not sure that he is going to be much more than a bit part player here for the coming season.

Yes, he could come good, but if he doesn't want to be here then seeya!!!

Citee suing the Prem
at 05:52 6 Jun 2024

Utterly abhorrent. Yes, FFP / P&S are flawed and work in favour of the big clubs, but there is something very, very wrong about signing up to the rules and then crying foul when you fail to follow them. If they win, you might as well give up and just let them take over from the Premier League.

BUT, if they do then surely that MUST set a legal precedent for QPR and other teams punished by such rules to challenge. If it was/ is unfair all along then it has to bring those decisions back into the spotlight.

Just like QPR were, Citee MUST be tried against the rules in place that they signed up to and charged accordingly. If those rules are then deemed unfair, the Prem then need to change those rules, but AFTER the punishment..

What will happen though is that this will be used in some way to reduce their punishment to a fine lower than the one we got with a "light" transfer embargo and no other punishment. They will then be freed up to do wtf they want.

Unless the rules are truly illegal, it has to be a condition of membership of the FA and the Premier League to sign up to the rules and agree to abide by them WITHOUT resorting to the courts. The authorities attitude should ALWAYS be: "if you REALLY want to take us to court, fine, but we revoke your membership". Surely, they have that right?

I suppose they do, but they do not have the spine to do any such thing...

Begovic - Best QPR Goalie in Years
at 06:50 2 Jun 2024

Come on, mate, this is the internet, so he is either the best EVER or the worst EVER. No middle ground, no fence to sit on.

Leaving Plymouth he was utterly the anti-christ so I'll stick with that for the www.

He had good moments, but is simply too old for one more season imo. If we do sign him, I think that he will cost us more than he saves us next season..

By the stats AND the eye test, he fails for me,

Let's hope that our new data driven world sees that...

Bit of a con that the Flex 3, Flex 5 and Flex 8 tickets give you ZERO QPR Cash though. When you factor in that a couple of the games also had offers of tix for ยฃ10 will make me think twice about buying them next season...

Confession time - Play off winners

No need to apologise, Fred, I know that I am a negative so and so. Not half full or half empty, more "what glass"? But that was a "succesful" QPR team that I didn't like, which is rare.

I loved them all through the 80s into the early 90s (although that might be to do with the fact that was my childhood 'til my mid 20s!). I adored (and still adore) Oan Holloway for how he saved the club and pulled us all together and I actually liked us under Warburton.

BUT that play-off winning team felt dirty and horrible. Having cash doesn't suit us I guess...
