Retiring . Who’s think about it?
at 18:55 18 Mar 2024

For what its worth .
I ran my own business for over 40 yrs ,and like other posters worrying about having enough money to live on was the driving factor on keeping going ,then for the first time i contracted Pnemonia ,and it was a real tough couple of months to be honest .
I was 64 yrs old and had chance to weigh up all my options ,and decided that enough was enough ,so called it a day .
The worry about having enough money never materialised ,not wealthy by any means ,but enough to pay our bills and for a nice holiday every year.
I visit a gym 3 times a week and enjoy my fishing ,a cup of coffee with my better half is also high on the agenda.
Three of fairly close friends ,all older than me,all running their own business ,all sucumbed to the grim reaper within a couple of months of their retirement ,and i thought bugger that ! the reaper will have to drag me screaming and kicking if he comes for me ,i plan to keep active ,enjoy life and make the most of our time on this blue orb that we call home

Best time to book flights for Florida in advance?
at 11:06 25 Jan 2020

Are you taking children ? or is it adults only ,if kids are included ,then i agree with most of the posters in buying as far in advance as possible
If its adults ,we ALWAYS leave it till last minute ,and we have never had an issue in getting seats ,as long as you are flexible by a couple of days either way
Last year ,late Aug ,2 adults from Bristol into Sanford £760 inc seat reservation and full luggage ,the year before ,Gatwick was actually £780 for 2 .
We use TUI ,Norwegian Air ,or who ever comes in with the best price .
One thing that we always do is book direct with the Airline ,always had the best price ,and if you do use a third party booking site ,and something goes wrong ,its not the airline you deal with ,and the customer service at various booking sites ,are in general non existent.
By last minute i would say 14 days or less from departure date ,and dont worry about accommodation there are thousands and thousands of hotel rooms ,villas ,condos etc ,which by the way we never pay the asking price for ,as its last minute ,many are happy to do "special pricing " to get a booking
Hope this is of some help

If you feel like a little more background into the so called "great and the good" of this land,do yourself a favour and Google Dr Sally Baker ,and have a read of her blogs ,they are very long ,too long in my opinion, but some of the things she has proof of ,beggar belief .
As i said if you have the stamina start near the beginning to try and get a perspective .
I dont follow her as much as i used to ,there is only so much you can take of what she has unearthed ,without feeling so damn angry

Hi ,yep a bottom drain would be the best ,but its also the most work to install ,as for filter ,there is no real "best" a lot of it comes down to personal choice and budget ,its usually a multi chambered affair ,to enable getting the most filter media working.
The main thing is to make sure ,in particular with Koi that the filter is oversized ,the bigger the better ,we are talking fish that can ,in the right conditions grow to a meter in length ,although thats unlikely in the UK ,because of weather fluctuations
Again more than happy to offer face to face advice if he wants to pop in ,[ no hard sell ]

Approx 80+% of tropical fish are commercially bred ,mostly in the far east ,Singapore,Malaysia,Thailand etc
Virtually 100% of coldwater fish are commercially bred

No problem ,you are welcome.
Should you decide to go down the filter / UV route ,we can beat any price including online prices plus you get a face to face to ask as many questions as you want
Apologies for the sales blurb !! but we all got to put bread on the table

With Kribs ,its often more difficult to STOP them breeding !!
Plenty of [true] coldwater fish are able to be bred outside ,the most obvious of course the good old goldfish

The only guaranteed way to keep a pond clear is to have a filter which has to have a UV light attached ,it might sound complicated ,but in truth its easy .
A pump would push the water through the filter ,the UV will kill all the algae [ which is whats making your pond go green] and the filter collects all the dead algae ,bingo ,clear pond !
The filter /pump/UV ould have to be based on the volume of the pond to make sure it can do the job,a filter HAS to have the UV though ,they have to work in tandem.
WORST thing to do is empty the pond and put in loads of "nice clean " water, really bad for the fish ,plus it will be back to where you started after week .
If you want to see what i am waffling about ,i have a new shop opening right opposite the entrance to the Liberty ,you can call or ring if you want it explained better ,by the way "no hard sell" we are happy to advise ,but we do sell everything thats needed ,or you can PM me ,

Are you happy if we stay midtable but play the same football?
at 19:41 30 Mar 2019

Well ,what WAS he going to say ? "nah these players are crap " !
We have coped extremely well bearing mind the playing staff has been decimated .
We have had NO left back for most of the season ,our only midfield enforcer ,Fer ,has missed the majority of the season ,and we ONLY have Mc Burnie as a centre forward option .I am not knocking any of the players who have filled in for those positions ,maybe their time will come ,maybe not .
And looking at our bench today ,thin is not the word .
We ALL want to see our team play better ,play faster ,score more goals ,defend sey pieces better ,etc ,etc
The simple thing is being left/ given the squad Potter has at his disposal ,i honestly think its an 8 out of 10 for me .
Also ,yes ,i would much prefer to watch the type of football we are playing ,rather than the "style" of Monk ,Sousa,Carvahal,Clement etc .
Also missed out that we have only had 2 central defenders for the last 6 weeks or so .
I dont normally get involved with the after match discussion ,win or lose ,but for once had to put in my two pennies worth
