Jenkins must be kicking himself right now
at 20:31 13 Feb 2015

In all seriousness do people still actually believe we were poor for a year under laudrup. And not that you may not have been appreciative of what was actually happening on the pitch at the time. To compete as well as we did against some of the teams we played. Yes west ham, Cardiff blah blah blah. Or is it now a case of you have to believe it.

What you mean those same changes brenden rodgers made to his team and that have dominated football the last twenty years. Why look for space on a football pitch or drag the opposition out of position for someone else. When you can just make it easier for the guy marking you and stand in the same place.

Yeah absolutely. As soon as we started the think the swansea way was anything other than those managers there wasn't a swansea way.

Is it true that towards the end of Laudrup's reign...
at 09:17 25 Jan 2015

Caused us no problems whatsoever lol

I think it was guardiola who said you try to win the ball back 30 yards from your opposition goal not 80. I wish monk had played with him at barca.

It's an insult to those two performances to suggest they were anything like sat. First 10 minutes against Chelsea we could of conceded a couple but after that we were solid. As for man city we passed them off the park first half. Jdg was outstanding. So much so they changed tactics to combat us by bringing Garcia as an extra man in midfield. I'm sure some people watched us with their eyes closed under Laudrup.

Scared to pass forwards, absolute rubbish. He made two bad passes west brom at home which almost cost two goals. In a backs to the wall monk performance we lost. Then it was decided he was part of the "problem".

I remember last year in a game away to villa. Ended one all I believe. We had 70% possession and were completely dominant. To my disbelief I actually read people slating the performance with comments like having 70% possession is not a positive. Today when we have 30 percent possession everyone is agreed good performance. But I am at least glad expectation is now a little more realistic. Good point too.

I don't think this formation works as well when teams press us high as they did second half. First half was great. As it's quite easy to mark players, wingers staying wide etc. I think we saw this in games towards end of rodgers first season qpr away, wolves second half. Where we got boxed in. That's why rodgers team now, look much more dynamic. Courtino, sterling players like this are looking for spaces, dropping infield, giving full backs more options out, not just hugging touch line. We just end up a bit predictable for me at mo.

Well done gary indeed. Fantastic result. And if this new "swansea way" brand of football brings us more results like sat and more importantly results consistently against teams around us. Then was he the right choice, absolutely.

WTF has Jenkins (the Board) done?
at 10:15 13 Aug 2014

Can you remember what you were like with Laudrup? Even in games where we dominated but the result didn't go our way. That happens, it's sport. Unfortunately for the rest of us, some fans now have the manager they deserve.

WTF has Jenkins (the Board) done?
at 09:55 10 Aug 2014

This season is shaping up to be unfortunately a harsh reality check for a board, player, many fans and scouting department (bringing in ngog and emnes) who thought they knew better at what it takes to succeed at the top level of football. Than a man who spent this entire career there. Maybe some more double training sessions we need. Please don't kid yourselves this is a one off. We have been getting pinned in our own half unable to get out with any fluency for a large amount of games he has managed in. So to assist with that. We have now got rid of some of our best players on the ball. Marvellous approach.

I honestly can't believe how much the Spanish players seem to be now considered the 'problem'. Two games for me which instantly come to mind. Are Southampton home and away. We actually lost both games. But away when most of Spanish boys played we looked dominant. Home when most didn't we were a shambles.

The 'swansea way' for me has been signing brilliant young up and coming managers. Who wanted to play the game the right way. Were able to tactically influence the game before and during. Who had great contacts so that they were able to bring players in who each time raised us at the level we were at. Within a small budget. Outside of this whether they knew the tea ladies name etc or not is irrelevant for me.

"As I said before it's not hard to have outdone Laudrup this season"

- Laudrup was 12th and had 24 points. So for starters thats 8 teams worse off than him
- We had also qualified for 5th round of the fa cup which we have done only a handful of times in last 30 years, beating manu along the way at old trafford for the first time in our history.
- Also we had qualified for second round of Uefa cup beating Valencia 3-0 away.

I honestly hope you are right mate and our futures managers can easily outdo this........ be fantastic ;)

The problem for your hernedez, de guzmans, canas types is by a lot of fans they are judged in a Leon Briton wonder land. Where giving the ball sideways, backwards all game and generally no more than 10 yards to feet is considered the pinnacle of midfield play.

I will give credit to Monk for one thing he has done He has certainly brought expectations crashing down. It's just unfortunate they weren't a little bit more realistic under Laudrup. Or maybe he will have the no league within leagues brief for next season.

Surely surely now, reality must be starting to bite a little bit for the "poor for a year" brigade

Or more likely they are probably waiting for our next manager to come on so we can start back pushing for top 6 :) and rolling over the big teams. ........... sigh

Init just, and these were the people that were listened too.

The second the board started to think the reason for swans success were their decisions and not the tactics and signings of the managers they appointed we were in trouble. Its the premier league for **** sakes.

You try hard to convince yourself we were on a downward spiral equivalent to looking worse against teams like palace and wba for many many months....... I would too if I were you.
