I think the theory goes that it wasn't even the Titanic it was a sister ship that yad already been damaged when not insured properly. They changed the name plate and assumed that once they crashed it there would be enough other ships close by to rescue everyone. The plan somehow went wrong. Titanic history a lot more interesting than watching Saints at the moment. And it definitely wasn't 1984 cos we came second in 1984 and reached FA cup semi final. |

It is not about having the right players to play the system, no other premiership team would even attempt to play suicidal triangles in and around our 28 yard box. Silly errors are built into the system they aren't just caused by lapses in concentration. Other teams have now adapted our high pressing game that we played unde RH and the type of possession game we are now trying to play just a gift for the high pressing teams. Our squad is ten times better than 2 years ago but we are doomed to failure trying to play a misguided suicidal possession game. |

SanMarco YouTube highlights don't show it but I will take your word for it. However, one goal scored and numerous conceded still doesn't convince me. I think RM has drummed in the passing game to such an extent that the players are frightened to put their foot through the ball even when that would be the sensible option. That's my only defence for McCarthy. |

You are absolutely right that it is the system that is at fault not McCarthy. If we are going to play possession football then surely the first rule is that it starts with a pass outside of the 18 yard line. It is simply suicidal for any keeper to try and make a pass inside the box. Can anyone recall a goal scored which started with a short pass in our box? I bet everyone can remember several goals given away which came from a mistake in or around our 18 yard box. |

How do you work out that our last six games include three wins and three draws when we lost three in a row? Excellent win and at least we can go into the play offs with renewed confidence. |
| News Comment | RIP Chris Nicholl A True Southampton Legend at 09:20:09
Great tribute. Top man. I worked in the same office as his ex wife and son. Became very good friends with his son and and I also coincidentally played with Chris on the all weather pitch at the Sports Centre-although it didn't involve him loitering on the sidelines. |
| News Comment | Southampton At West Bromwich Albion The Verdict at 09:20:22
I thought their manager was unlucky. It looks like the ball goes out of play for a micro second and he tries to stop it for the throw in. The only bizarre thing is that his players try to play on as if nothing had happened. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Rotherham United The Verdict at 17:54:10
The fact that we are 1 point off of the play off positions is irrelevant because if we cannot even beat a team that has failed in all previous away matches then what makes you think that we have the potential to maintain or improve our position? The facts so far show that we are bang average and Leicester and Ipswich are running away with it. The crowd's frustration is understandable when Leicester can win 10 from 11 and we can't even manage 3 successive victories. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Leicester City The Verdict at 10:23:51
I think it is more simple than just lack of leadership. Any team that tries to play out from the back is bound to present the occasional gift to the opposition. The first rule of football used to be never mess around with the ball in your own 18 yard box. When did that rule go out of the window? Even Leicester looked dodgy trying to play out from their goal line but we weren't able to capitalise. Our best ball and safest ball was Bazunu to the winger. Trouble is we were already too far behind before this tactic was employed. Unless we have a fundamental rethink we are doomed. But this is RM's way and I cannot see him changing soon. |
| News Comment | A Love Hate Affair With Spurs at 23:03:09
I was born in Enfield and lived there until my parents moved to Southampton when I was 6 yrs old. I had a short crush on Spurs when I was about 10 yrs old before I became a Dell regular and Saints convert. Now about 60% of me is totally indifferent to them. 30% of me dislikes them a little, 9% of me dislikes them a lot but I must admit that about 1% of me still keeps an eye out for their result - you can't help where you were born. Incidentally I can't remember much about their fans in 1977 - I was there. What happened? |
