It is a bit sad but nearly 40 years later I still maintain that Droylsden's winning goal stuck in the mud on the line and should not have counted. |

Wow, it shows what 26 years will do to the memory. I had Mark Hilditch sticking one in early on to mark his return. |

I was at that game but didn't remeber that it was 4-0 at half time. All the goals look like they're scored in the Pearl street end. |

It wouldn't be the first time ever. When we went up in 1969 we spent five consecutive seasons in the old division three, albeit fighting relegation a few times. We finally came down in 1973-74 under Walter Joyce. |
| Forum Reply | Doncaster Away - what reaction can we expect from the players? at 10:10 16 Nov 2015
I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who just watched the last ten minutes on TV and he said that from his point of view we just played out the game without any sense of urgency. A game is not necessarily lost at 0-2 with ten minutes to go (admittedly this one was and he would have known that if he had watched the whole thing) but he commented on the lack of anyone driving us forward and leading the team into making a game of it. |

Could be wrong but I think he was called Eddie Cliff. Joined us in 1979, during a pretty desperate period under Doug Collins after the initial euphoria of avoiding re-election with seven wins out of eight at the end of the 1978-79 season. |

We are mad, we're insane, no-one takes the Sandy Lane...and...You'll never take the Sandy....were two of the chants back in the 1970s. |

It has yes but it only declared itself a Republic in 1948. |

The idea that Ireland as a country should feel any shame because of what a few Celtic fans have done is pathetic. Also the use of the term Eire is a little outdated - it has been widely known as Ireland or The Republic of Ireland since it declared itself a republic in 1948. |

Nothing happened? I am sure there was an entire minute of everyone singing "Joey Thompson de de de de" in the 15th minute and applauding. Unless I dreamt it. Wish I had dreamt the whole night to be honest. |

An amazing link here to Yorkshire Street in 1968, taken from Facebook. A thriving, bustling, busy, hard working northern town centre. |
