I note you missed an incident that you said at the game was why Ball definitely deserved man of the match for us, that being that incredible tackle late in the first half not more than a yard or two from goal that halted a clear goal scoring opportunity, possibly when Hall made another (missed) fling at the ball. Sadly, I also think you have been too kind to Hall in this game. |

I don't know if we can call this a good or a bad, but other than Stoke we have conceded the first goal of the game in every match including cup games. Perhaps it links two of your points in that our defence is a problem while our character is not. However, we cannot continue to give the opposition a goal and momentum head start. I am sure MW is very much aware of this and is searching for a solution. |

Thanks Clive. I know I am being pedantic but did we not suffer a penalty against us when Nedem was adjudged to have raised his foot against Fulham two season back? Mind you that ref was and still is an imbecile which also explains the decision. Fortunately, Fulham, like they do, missed the penalty and we won 2-1. |

I'm not going to make a new forum post on this, but I find the "jet lag" possible excuse of Luongo poor, if true. Why did a player who was involved in more of Australia's games get a full game on Saturday afternoon while our Mass gets the day off? That is, someone rather similar to Chery - Aaron Mooy who netted the only goal, and a classy one at that, in their 1-0 win at Leeds.
Regards Henry, he rarely turns his head to look around prior to accepting the ball and thus is not in a position to make a better decision than to send the ball back. When I went to explain this to my partner, as to why the team were passing the ball sideways or backwards, I had to say it was because these were "safer" options. Perhaps that was true in that there were no or poor options ahead of him, and perhaps it was just Henry.
ElK was hiding too often, as you have stated Clive. Many a time you could see him pointing towards Bidwell, instead of making himself available in the channel for Hall or others. He also chose not to get involved in heading contests, which I think made a number of fans unappreciative of him.
I know you cannot mention everything Clive, but when JFH swapped Shopido and ElK for a little while in the first half I felt it did both players no service and probably only hindered our game. The idea only held for about 10 or so minutes. However, I feel that we should also note Perch's partnership with Shopido and certainly this in the same context as Bidwell and ElK. I did not concentrate on this much while watching the game, but there is a case to say that the former worked and the latter, perhaps, was not as good. |

Ta, Anti. Watched the game and agree that I thought Henry for Perch appeared the obvious decision. While I agree that Angella's defence was as good as you say, he seemed to want to send long balls continuously to phantom forwards instead of short balls to the likes of the wingers (particularly Phillips on his side) orAle. I guess that is just something he has to learn to make him better.
Regards the game as a spectacle, 'pulsating' is definitely an appropriate word to describe it. For any neutral who watched this, they would have enjoyed every bit of it. When we re 2-1 down I was on the edge of my seat (well lounge) as I would have been were we 1-0 up at the same time. You could see it coming, it was just when. Best game I have seen for quite a while. |

Thanks Clive for echoing what I have said about the English football media for so long. I would love to have been at that press conference on Thursday and asked the question as to if this was a press event to talk about the team and the game on Saturday or about an event that occurred in another country? However, I think that the last sentence maybe should finish "and the media and public might actually start to return that respect in equal measure." At present they are obviously still in HR mode and certainly do not respect CR. Would they have asked these questions of one of the top four or so managers? Doubt it. They need, first, to respect CR and then the public will follow. |

I wasn't at the match, there being no quick flights from Oz to Newcastle at the time, but.. couple of things. While the goals and a lot of the attack did come down the right side and mainly through Phillips - did we notice that he ignored Isla on both goals, the Chilean going past him to create a two-on-one - but that there was also a lot happening on the other side. You rightly acknowledged this with Yun's rating. His cross right at the beginning of the game was one of the best (even counting the two for goals) by a QPR player on the night. I also though Alvarez made a huge difference to Sunderland in the game and really made Yun work hard. Other than that, it is great to hear your smiling fingers type such happy prose! |

Great report Clive, and it must be getting disheartening to have to pour these out one after another. However, I have to say that it was Caulker who was caught ball watching for the second goal. Sanchez had three players around him and Caulker watched without noticing Rosicky coming in from behind. By the time the pass was made, he was out of position and with no chance to recover. Caulker was, at that stage, playing as a left back and that is possibly his excuse. Other than that, cannot disagree at all. |

Clive, there are two types of "bonus" games.
1. Where you set out a stall and hope that you get a draw.
2. Where you know you are not expected to win but choose to go all out attack in the hope you can score equal to or more goals than the opponents.
No reason to ask why we cannot play the second, but as you say, this is Rednap-ball and Rednap mentality. |

Again I refer to the horrible hacks, as you have eluded to in your pre-game presser discussions, that the UK seems to have. They have absolutely no guts to ask the real questions, as you have above. Here, in Aussieland, the journos do not hold back and I can tell you that there have been more than the occasional confrontation when a coach/manager is asked a question he or she would rather not answer - I've been there to see it personally. However, the journos in UK are so tempered in their questions that one wonders why they are being paid. Then, they come up with some of the most ridiculous articles based on nothing and without having asked the real questions that would have revealed what they should be writing about, the real controversies like why the team is not fit, who picked the players, why is Harry not taking responsibility, etc, etc.. |

Thanks Clive. Missed the game as in Kiwiland for conference. What I notice you have not included is something we and you harped on last season with Harry. That is his ability to pick the wrong team and then try to recover at half time. I am fearful of seeing this methodology return but with more dire consequences this season which will also provide clear evidence of his inability to manage. His continuous use of the tombola machine last season cannot continue. Nor can there be continuous chopping and changing. He needs to settle his lineup very soon. This midweek cup game cannot come at a better time. |

Thanks Clive. To add to this, the best commentator comment I heard was late in the game when the cameras panned over the R's supporters and they said the sun is shining on the QPR supporters. How prophetic that was. You can rest your weary fingers now for a little while until the tombola machine of hand-picked transfers weaves through the mitts of 'Arry and his followers.
It's been a great season for me having been able to see games at LR and one away early in the season and to meet with a number of the main characters of this board including Clive. To finish in such a style just emphasises the greatness of it all. |

Pretty accurate Clive. I really wonder why our fans pay good money to head to away games. I just wonder what would happen if that final game was held in front of an empty away stand. Does the club deserve it? But also thought Suk-Young deserved a little better as he had many good touches. You could see throughout the game how much Krancjar preferred his side of the field than Benayoun's as the young Korean had some nice one-touches. I think he also deserved a lot more as he was playing out of position and did quite a decent job. |

Okay Clive, you are either going to kill me, ban me or just ignore me, but... I re-watched the first half and counted the number of received passes by both Jenas and Carroll from team mates. This will haunt one of us. Jenas 40 and Carroll 38. Yes, Jenas received more passes from team-mates than Carroll in the first half. Please go back and watch it again. Also, it was interesting that the two worked together in that if one moved forward to help with the attack, the other moved into a position just in front of the defence. Now, I will not say what happened to the ball after they received it or what happened in the second half as just watching the first was strenuous enough, so possibly the second was completely different.
Now, I guess it is time to put up the rotten egg and tomato shields as well! |

Um, er, I think I am going to have to watch this game again. I actually thought JJ was doing quite decently and that the Jenas watch was going to suffer this week. Maybe Setanta was showing a different game. Will get back to you on this one. |
