There is too much emotion in this discussion, and too little informed debate. Whatever you think about the Norwich players' behaviour, and about the consistency of referees' decisions, Law 12 is clear on this: 'using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures' is one of the seven sending-off offences. Violent conduct is another. You don't have to make contact or draw blood. Just read the laws of the game (how many fans have ever done so?) JB may not have been the only one but I'm afraid he is bang to rights. How anyone thought he could win an appeal is beyond me, and Warnock was daft to try. |
