They don’t interest Sports Republic because they don’t want to get promoted.

Before a ball was kicked this season didn’t Mr Parsons say as much when he told us all that we don’t have the resources to play in The Premiership ?

Brighton V Bournemouth

Why bother to go when you’re comfortably mid table, knocked out of both cup competitions and effectively with nothing to play for the remainder of the season ?

Plus the fact that it’s just after Christmas and the next pay cheque is nearly a fortnight away and you can’t park a car anywhere near Brighton’s ground.

Far easier to save some money and stay at home and watch it on TV.

Sports Republic, tone deaf or just don’t give a f.ck ?
at 17:22 19 Jan 2026

Booed off the pitch on Saturday, 3 points from the last possible 21 and haven’t won a League game for I believe 39 days.

Sports Republic’s response ? Send me an email asking if I want to go to a Christmas Party at the stadium in Eleven months time !

My opinion? They are now just a Player Trading Business first, Hospitality and Entertainment Business second with Southampton Football Club a very distant third.

I suggest that If you are primarily a Player Trading Business rather than a Football Club, you need young players with prospects to trade.

Bamford has little or no resale value hence he’s of no interest.

When does the bad feeling end?

Superb piece A1079 thanks.

I and a few others have been saying much the same but not so eloquently for some time now.

For what it’s worth I repeat my view again, which is that in my opinion the objectives of our owners and their employees at Sports Republic are simply no longer compatible with those of Southampton Football Club’s fan base.

In order of importance they want :-

1. A Player Trading Business.

2. A Hospitality and Entertainment Business based at St Mary’s.

3. A vehicle to display the players they wish to trade and that vehicle is our Southampton Football Club. Which division the club plays in is of no particular concern to them.

In order of importance we want just one thing:-

1. A competitive Southampton Football Club. One that whilst not necessarily capable winning Leagues and Cups will at least “ give it a go “.

Personally, I believe that until our club is rid of its current owners and Sports Republic nothing will change. Put simply, the current divide between our and their objectives is no longer capable of repair.

Will Saints stay up?
at 12:27 18 Jan 2026

I’ve not checked again but I think we’ve only taken 3 points from the last 21 ( seven games ) available. Either way our current form is unashamedly relegation form.

Teams that get relegated from any division are usually the ones that can’t score goals and that’s the worry for me.

Take out the 5 goal outlier result at Charlton and currently our players can’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo.

Add in the fact that our defence is currently as porous as blotting paper and the omens don’t look promising.

Something needs to change and change rapidly hopefully starting on Wednesday against Sheffield and again on Sunday against Portsmouth.

Difficult to comprehend really given that before a ball was kicked we were second favourites at 5/2 behind Ipswich to win the league.

A masterpiece by the Loons in how not to Own and Manage a Football Club.

What will Sports Republic charge for Leicester F A. Cup Tickets?
at 22:13 17 Jan 2026

Given our current run of results and the simmering undercurrent of unhappiness expressed by fans at St Mary’s today, if the Loons price the game at anything more than £10 a ticket it could be one of the lowest 4th Round attendances ever.

Quite Astonishing given our close season spending.
at 14:58 17 Jan 2026

After the early Kick Offs today we are 22 points behind Coventry.

To put that in perspective.

Just over half way through the season and given their better goal difference, they could afford to lose their next eight games and we would need to win all of them before we overtook them.

Sports Republic certainly know how to run a football club in style.

That’s what we get from Sports Republic Pat.

Player Trading Company. First.

Hospitality Company at St Mary’s. Second.

Southampton Football Club Third. Possibly.

Quite probably, but it’s hard to tell given all our other problems.

Linked with young gambles again - when will Sport Republic learn?
at 09:28 9 Jan 2026

Spot on Jo.

I’ve been saying the same thing for months now.

First and foremost a Player Trading Company.

Not forgetting of course their Hospitality and Entertainment Businesses at St Mary’s.

They don’t want promotion as was confirmed, by I think it was their Mr Parsons saying we couldn’t compete in The Premiership, at the fans meeting at the start of the season.

As long as they have a “ vehicle” to show off their prospects, ie The Championship/League One, everything in Sports Republic’s world is fine and dandy.

Supercomputer Predicts Southampton Going Up Portsmouth Going Down
at 16:54 7 Jan 2026

Exactly Pat.

The lowest number of points ever for a team to reach the playoffs was 68 by Leicester in 2013.

If anyone seriously thinks that the inept rabble that currently masquerades as a team will average 1.8 points per game until the season ends, I’ve got a bridge to sell them.

On the other hand, if Sports Republic were to buy a proper Goal Keeper, Centre Half and Centre Forward in the current window…………but we all know the answer to that.

Culture problem at the Club

Looks to me to be the nearest the fella can get to identifying with whom the problems lay without losing his priority access to the club, which is of course necessary for him to be able to do his job properly.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines as the saying goes.

Head Coach vs Manager
at 14:55 5 Jan 2026

As I posted this morning on Nicks report of yesterday’s shambles Southamptonfan.

In my opinion Southampton Football club as you and I have known and supported, simply doesn’t exist anymore.

It’s now just a Player Trading Business with subsidiary Hospitality outlets at St Mary’s.

It would take too much time, energy, commitment and money from our Owners and Sports Republic to return the club to The Premiership.Plus why should they bother when they are currently perfectly happy having achieved their objectives ?

Middlesbrough Game Matchday Thread
at 17:02 4 Jan 2026

We did get something Nick, a defeat by 4-0 against a team that hadn’t scored a single goal during their last four games.

I don’t envy you having to write a match report on this one.None of us would blame you if you said you were in bed with the flu and simply couldn’t be bothered, rather like Sports Republic, the coach and the players.

Lesser Spotted Ross Stewart on the bench today

So they think it a good idea to reintroduce sick note at Boro on one of the coldest days anybody can remember.

I hope for his sake he takes no part whatsoever. Given the pitch conditions and his injury record, if he plays any part today he will probably get injured again and that will be this season and his Saints career (out of contract at end of the season) over for the fella.

Spot on as usual Jelly.

That’s why nowadays those who cause wars never ever fight in them.

As for today’s game. Well done and good luck to all the fans that make the long journey.

I hope that you witness something better than the recent St Mary’s New Years Day bore fess.
