FAW academies
at 17:37 17 May 2023

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-65616056

5 academies had their licenses removed, the reasons depending on who you listen to, for not having a physio present at U12s games and toilets being locked at the venue where U9s were training. if anyone from the FAW can provide more transparent information, please do.

Also Pontardawe, downgraded to a C license, which means they can only run limited age groups. Pontardawe U12s (Angel Rangels boys) and U14s both finished the season as Welsh champions. So clearly competitiveness doesn't seem to count for much. Whilst Pontypridd who finished bottom or near bottom in every age group, but have FAW members on their board and play and train at the fantastic USW facilities, get a category B license as do Cardiff Met. (i'm sure there are people on here who know the full picture at Pontardawe far better than me)

I'll declare an interest in that my lad plays for one of the academies that has had their license removed, despite being very successful on the pitch. he's already been offered places at different Cat B academies, as have most of his team mates. The simple reason being that they are better than the teams and players at those academies. So whilst the BBC article says correctly its caused disruption to Risca, Taffs well and Cwmbran, it actually spreads much further than that. Lots of boys currently at Pontypridd and Cardiff met are going to lose their places to the better players from the delicensed academies.

The FAW couldn't really have caused more confusion if they tried. An added issue, following the introduction of the one club rule last season, I know of talented boys who having chosen academy football, are next season choosing to play Rugby instead.

Maybe Liverpool fans think the monarchy should be put into a managed decline.

good luck all the lads

BIlly Clarke is yet another product of the Taffs Well Academy.

However yesterday the FAW decided to remove Taffs Well FAW academy status, despite TW producing dozens of players for the Swansea, Cardiff and Newport academies over recent years as well as several for Wales schools and Wales age group sides.

The reasons are clearly not football related as all the age groups performed well this season. Its something to do with the fact the FAW dont like it if the U8s and U9s train at a different venue to the U14 and U15s/

Good luck to all the lads, especially Bobo Evans, who is effectively playing a year up as he's in the same Cardiff& Vale schools U14 squad as my eldest lad.

I won't mention he's from Llanrumney.

The Gower starts as you turn off the road, with the beer garden on your left.

The Gower peninsula? Now that's a different question.

2 and half year jail sentence for something that the Planet swans 1922 committee believe was all made up. I assume they will all be campaigning for his release as a miscarriage of justice.

Its common knowledge that the EU of today was started by the Schumann declaration of 1950 which led to the formation of the coal and steel community in 1951. This was the birth of the EU

The specific reason for the formation was to integrate coal and steel production( the raw materials of war) to make it politically and economically impossible for members states to go to war with each other who had been at war with each other on and off for centuries.

Nato helped keep the peace between the West and the Warsaw pact. The EU has facilitated peace between western European countries,

Lets be honest with the current fekwits that keep getting voted in, its now not inconceivable following Brexit that the UK will initiate some sort of conflict with Spain in the foreseeable future.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Coal_and_Steel_Community

Of course anybody who did their research before voting in the referendum would already know all this.

A story I heard, which I hope is true.

When he was Ireland manager, and travelling around the country, he would stop in local pubs saying he didn't have any cash on him and would they cash a cheque?

The publican would always say yes and big jack would write them a cheque for say £50. The landlord would frame the cheque and never cash it. Big jack repeated this ad infinitum across Ireland.

RIP to one of the games greatest characters.

Preston losing.

Millwall winning and they've got 3 very winnable games left. Don't rule them out.

Everything going our way so far.

A draw tomorrow is a decent result, even a defeat isn't a disaster, particularly if Cardiff and derby can draw with each on other Tuesday.

It's so tight GD, GS or even head to head could be the difference. We beat Preston and Cardiff on head to head but not Derby.

I guess everyone remembers where they were.

I was on my honeymoon in new Zealand. We'd just been for a fabulous meal at one of Auckland's finest restaurants. We got in the taxi to go back to the hotel and the driver asked where in the UK we were from. He then told us about what was happening in London.

The key line.

"This was done many years before any care home fees were likely to be an issue".

as I've said, repeatedly, - if it is done with the intention of avoiding care home fees, the local authority can ignore it.

Many people arranged their properties into tenants in common with nil rate band will trusts, and /or lifetime interest in possession trusts for the surviving spouse. as your parents did, when it was legitimate IHT planning, or put in place to protect the interests of children from a previous marriage. It had the additional benefit in respect of care home costs.

I'll post the links again incase people missed them the first time.

most properties purchased by couples are owned as joint tenants as opposed to tenants in common.

You are allowed to give half your house to your children, nobody is stopping anybody doing it. However if it is done for the specific purpose of avoiding care home fees the local authority can, and do, disregard it.

Like deathbed PET's, You are allowed to give everything away on your deathbed, but it will reduce the IHt bill by the combined total of eff all.
