You are correct Brentford were a great watch most of the time in the championship and they were the best years for me.We turned into a very physical side who were very hard to beat playing long up to Toney.I must admit I thought we would only last one season.Getting relegated from PL will be grim when it comes seeing your team get beat every week but the championship is a happy landing place for me,as long as we don’t do a Luton something I didn’t see coming. |

I’ve heard many times recently of the theory that promoted teams need to have experienced PL players to survive I don’t go along with that.Brentford got promoted through the play offs after finishing 3rd behind Norwich and Watford and ended up 8 th without signing any of these players. You need to have signed players that can be improved to manage the step along with a coaching team to achieve this. The current situation though needs addressing as the gap is getting to a point where established teams only need to win around 10 games to survive and if this continues the PL will be like a closed shop something the American owners would love and I for one hates. After 4 seasons in the PL apart from the first season each season has become less enjoyable at times just plain boring. No criticism of my club they have played a blinder but for legacy fans like me,(its what we are called these days ) these are far from the golden years in my long time of following the team all over the country. |

Thought it was brilliant watching the scores coming in this afternoon other fans moan about the quality of the Championship but nobody can question the unpredictability that makes it soo much better than the PL. |

Christ it’s changed over here only a short while back it was all relegation gloom.Very easy for some to call clubs like Brentford and Bournmouth poxy little clubs because of the size of their crowds not taking on board I doubt if you went up with the PL requirements you would have a capacity of above 16000. Apart from the really big clubs with 50000 plus gates most will be lucky to take more than 18 million in gate money ok add the 120 +million through the TV money.Ipswich have spent over 100 mill on players so with wages north of 75 mill they ain’t making a profit Ah the parachute payments you all moan about well that doesn’t go a long way if you don’t have relegation clauses in players contracts.Since getting into the Championship I’ve had a good laugh at these so called massive clubs calling us a poxy a little club most still in the championship and some even now in Division 1 . The best thing to do is study how it’s done and replicate it and then when you get there you find it’s not the paradise you thought it would be. I hope you get promotion the thought of QPR and Fulham in the PL might just wet my appetite as the championship is still my preferred league , |

Apart from the fact it’s an 11 point gap you are spot on with your take on it.Its all about the money.Just seen a report that Salford are losing 75k a week wtf. |

This thread mirrors our forum relating to the clubs taking this competition serious.Brentford made around 8 changes from the side that had started the previous week.I think it also shows arrogance towards the other side and gives them a bit of edge to put one over on you and that’s what Plymouth did and fair play they deserved it. The excuse that we have 2 games coming up this week City and Liverpool at home which we could very well lose is hardly going to define our season. The top and tale is we have disrespected this great competition and sadly this will continue |
