 | Forum Thread | SPORT REPUBLIC SHOULD WE SUPPORTERS REALLY BE SURPRISED BY IT ALL. at 16:04 2 Nov 2025
FiIRST MISTAKE WAS BY THE BOARD WHO SANCTIONED THE SALE TO A COMPANY KNOWING THEIR MODEL WAS ALL ABOUT SIGNING YOUNG PLAYERS TO DEVELOP TO SELL ON. HOW NAIVE, ALTHOUGH THEIR PREVIOUS PERIOD LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED TO PUT IT MILDLY. SPORT REPUBLIC A SPORT INVESTMENT AND DATA COMPANY! SET UP AS A MODEL BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION TO CREATE A TALENT PATHWAY TO PRODUCE YOUNG PLAYERS TO SELL ON FOR A PROFIT. NOWHERE DO THEY SAY OUR MAIN AIM IS TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL TEAM TO PLAY AND STAY IN TNE PREMIER LEAGUE. WOULD HAVE TO SPEND MONEY ON THE RIGHT PLAYERS AND MANAGER TO DO THAT. THE MONEY WASTED ON WRONG MANAGERS AND PLAYERS IS SCANDALOUS IN THE EXTREME. IF THEY KNEW ANYTHING THEY WOULD HAVE INSTRUCTED HASENHUTTL, JURIC, JONES, MARTIN OR STEEL TO BUY A TOP STRIKER AND TOP GOALKEEPER. A BASIC FOOTBALL FUNDAMENTAL WE WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY BE IN THE PREMIER AND PROBABLY NEVER LEFT IT. THEY OWN GOZTEPE SPOR WHO IN THE LAST THREE YEARS HAVE NOT PRODUCED A PLAYER FOR SOUTHAMPTON FIRST ELEVEN. THEY OWN VALENCIENNES A THIRD TIER FRENCH CLUB WHO HAVE BEEN RELEGATED SINCE THEIR TAKEOVER. GOZTEPE IS A MULTI SPORT CLUB WHICH AGAIN FITS THE SPORT REPUBLIC ETHOS. SO THERE WE HAVE IT. IT CAN NEVER BE THE CLUB WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD IN THE PAST WHILE THIS COMPANY IS IN CHARGE UNLESS THEY CHANGE DRAMATICALLY. THE CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING IS NIL. |
 | Forum Thread | Usual 20 minutes at 21:16 16 Feb 2024
Usual format against West Brom. Score good goal, well on top, drop deep and defend for 20 minutes. Every match this season we have had a 20 minute spell of letting teams off the hook and Bazuna has the most touches. Frustrating and hopefully will not cost us at the end of the season |

If Tino Livramento can stay injury free a player of his age and ability has got to be worth £50 million with add ons. The decision making or lack of it by the board over the last year has been beyond shocking so we should not be surprised by the above. Same as the Bournemouth match. Absolutely staggering. |
 | Forum Thread | RESPECT SUPPORTERS at 19:22 17 Sep 2022
I wonder how much respect the board really have for the supporters and the money they are asked to part with season after season of poor performances. Can they really go back to their work the day after and think it was just an off day and one day in the future it may come good. If so we have no chance. Another season coming up of the same. Perhaps they could tell us how much longer we have to endure it. Naïve baffling tactics. A manager who appears to have no plan A let alone plan B. Performances beyond embarrassing. Continually playing players not performing at premier standard. Playing players in wrong positions. Changing players around week after week in made up formations, We are at our best when playing attacking football and have been for years, yet we continue to play defensively in long patches, particularly when we go a goal in front. Next window surely Ward-Prowse will leave before his career grinds to a halt. It’s beginning to look like it already has. Not signing, again, a top striker which would change the team completely and the results. We kept being told we had a five year project. Has anyone worked out what it was. If it was to flirt with relegation every year and escape at the last minute then it has worked a treat. |
 | Forum Thread | Out of depth at 16:10 7 Aug 2022
Absolutely no idea. The board are paying a lot of money for a manager who has consistently proved he is out of his depth in the Premier league. So we must assume after nearly four years they are happy with that. If as a manager you cannot recognise that certain players are not at premier level then we have no chance. Tactically naive is an understatement. Before Hassenhutl arrived I would have liked Potter. I wonder if the board had even heard of him. I doubt it. |
 | Forum Reply | Pathetic manager at 17:42 18 May 2022
The style of play three years ago was predictable and boring. and three years later exactly the same. Clubs know how we play which is why we are so easy to beat and a tactically naïve Manager who doesn't know how to change it. Last night said it all. Square pegs in round holes constantly. Line up always baffling. Southampton are at their best when attacking so as soon as we score first we then try and defend for the rest of the game with defenders who don't know how too. Keep hearing Manager does not know his best side. Really! Time to change then, In the wrong job |
 | Forum Thread | Worrying at 12:56 16 Feb 2020
Central defence pairing reasonable ( of late ) so we then change it. If our best central defender isn’t good enough to play against Burnley then he shouldn’t be in the premier league. To be dropped for Vestergaard who on a very good day is frightening to watch, you have to question the manager. Big uncompromising Burnley surely you would play Adams. Djenepo, is anyone actually coaching him? If so, help!! Did we really let Cedric go for the sake of £5m. Small fry by our usual squandering. Another worrying decision. Sam McQueen looked a really good player. What happened there? Obafemi. Can’t think what to say, or shouldn’t say. Threw the game away against Wolves, Spurs and Burnley? |
