Moxey Out - Sammon To Wigan - No One In - Anyone Surprised? Monday, 31st Jan 2011 23:15 by Daniel J Sewart 11:00pm has come and gone and it looks like Derby has once again produced a baffling performance. This time it happened off the pitch which in many ways is much worse. Officially all we have is that Moxey has joined Crystal Palace on a three and a half year deal. One of our most passionate players has gone leaving only Roberts to cover the position in our already depleted defense. Nigel Clough spoke to the DET about the transfer: "We have accepted Crystal Palace's bid for Dean as we believe it is a good deal for Derby County," said Rams manager Nigel Clough. "Dean is a great lad and has done well for us since signing from Exeter City but we believe this deal will be best for both parties and Dean will have the opportunity to have a fresh start in his career." Reports are that Kilmarnock rejected a £425,000 bid for Sammon and then sold the player to Wigan Athletic for a reported £750,000 rising to £1 million. Ouch! Not even at the races on that one! Ayala is being held back for more treatment at Liverpool after assessment that his injury is still troubling him, the Foxes still don’t want to let Waghorn leave and a mystery signing fell through due to wages. All unofficial but with no more official news to report that is the best we can offer at the time being. That makes the score 1 in and 6 out, if you include the three youngsters released and Medi Abalimba who joined Andy Todd at Oldham on a free transfer. In fact Derby has turned a profit in a transfer market that was meant to be used to add spark to a faltering squad. Disappointing? Deeply disappointing! With emotion running high and fans frustrations beginning to spill over there will be much reaction to report in coming days and RamZone will cover it all. In the meantime I am going to take a deep breath and wonder what happened to the promised strengthening in defense, midfield and up front. In effect we are now weaker in all departments. Poor Nigel will not sleep well tonight. No matter how Tom Glick explains this one away I am afraid Rams fans will not be convinced this time, if they ever were in the first place.
