Buttner Deal Not Yet Dead
Buttner Deal Not Yet Dead
Thursday, 16th Aug 2012 15:29

According to reports in Holland Saints have tabled another bid for left sided player Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem.

As well documented the Saints bid for Buttner at one stage looked nailed on and only failed at the last minute due to a hitch that was not any fault of Saints, however it could be that the deal is now back on with the Dutch media reporting that a revised offer has gone in from Saints.

Personally I had a hunch that the deal was not dead in that after it went pear shaped, Saints didnt seem to persue any concrete options on the left side and with Dan Harding going to Nottingham Forest, it left us rather short over there, given that it seems that Nigel Adkins feels that its time for Adam Lallana to move into a more central role, it would be folly for Saints to not sign someone in that position.

Of course we could try using a right footed player on the left side, but given that our options on the right to start with dont look world beating, that too would be a risk.

I therefore just had a hunch that with Buttner wanting away and haing no shortage of potential suitors, yet no movement,  that something might just be bubbling under and it seems that with todays move that could be the case, of course tabling an offer is a long way from signing a player as we well know, however with the fact that negotiations were at an advanced stage before and all three parties know what is needed for the deal to be done, you would hope that the Saints bid is realisitc and based on those facts rather than a throwaway bid thats never going to be accepted.

Surely Saints can't start the season with the defence as it is! Left side, centre..... We need bodies (and quality ones at that) quickly.

In the arbitration case between Vitesse and Alexander Büttner, the arbitration committee of the KNVB Vitesse at all points in their favor.

During the hearing on 7 August last took place in Zeist, Büttner demanded termination of his contract because he believes there was one, at the hands of Vitesse, irreparably disrupted employment relationship. His lawyer argued before a number of arguments. Vitesse, in this case assisted by the FBO (Federation of professional football organizations) through counsel Frans de Weger, said that there was no evidence of a disrupted employment relationship and also proposed that Büttner a transition to the English club Southampton had himself blocked. The arbitration does not concur with the statements Büttner and his lawyer said. The arbitration panel ruled that not only the fact that there was progress between all parties agreed was a transition from Büttner to Southampton, but also that the failure of this transition risk and expense of coming Büttner. In the opinion of the committee was incomprehensible that Büttner not to the medical examination has traveled to Southampton and there is thus no reason for the fixed-term contract to terminate. Furthermore, the Committee did not reveal Büttner was entitled to additional compensation. The alternative claims, namely admission to the selection of the first team and the inclusion of a limited transfer fee, were rejected. CEO Erwin Kasakowski: "It's always annoying when a business dispute before a court must be fought, because you together can not overcome. The committee has clearly expressed. "

One thing i get from this is NC is legitimised some what.
He was seen by some including me as a possible problem with his alleged overly harsh, hard ball approach. But what is going on here judging by this translation is very messy and not down to our chairman who no doubt politely showed them the door when presented this mess of claims and demands.
Im guessing Saints are still Buttner's first choice from the positivity he showed towards us earlier on in the process.
It sounds like his dad is the third party looking for a cheque some are saying in the region of 500k. What the background to this claim is no one seems to know but if any of it is true for our sake he needs to pull his head in so we can close the deal.

I find it somewhat bizarre that a father would demand a amount of money and stop his son earning the same sort of sum in the process
