Legendary QPR goalkeeper Phil Parkes and Inbetweeners star Henry Lloyd-Hughes join a big crowd of regulars on this week’s podcast.

Parkes spoke about a mixture of his time at the club, the manner of his departure to West ham and the current Rangers team and goalkeeping situation.

Parkes said of the 1975/76 near miss: “We were playing football that was years ahead of its time. We were by far the best team in the league that season. Liverpool had the luck going with them, we didn't have it that year.

“I never ever wanted to move. I went to West Ham because QPR were prepared to sell me. When I spoke with John Lyall first of all back in 1979 I had no intention of moving across London. I was happy at QPR, we were struggling in the league but I was playing alright enjoying my football. Jim Gregory and his son took the decision, they bought me for £15k they were selling me for £565k, I'd had nine years there and they'd had the best of my ability, I wasn't going to get any better. But I think I did get better when I went to West Ham.”

A really interesting interview on a number of topics, and a great podcast this week with host David Fraser, QPR fan Lloyd-Hughes who played school bully Mark Donovan in the hit Channel 4 series, and studio regulars Paul Finney, Chris Mendes and Chris Charles To listen to or download the podcast click here.

The bet goalie ever at QPR. Ever, ever, ever. Seaman was Steptoe by comparison.

But I have to say that Gordon Banks in that era was even better than Parkes.

How Banks kept it to just 2 -4 in the 1967 League CUp Quarter Final was amazing.

There were just so many great English goalies around then. Parkes was in one of the top five in the world - until civilisation starts all over again, we'll never see better in hoops, or a green jersey, than him .

Parkes was always my favorite. We got a good keeper in Cesar but I would have Parkes any day.
